Van Damme's martial arts best!!!
Kickboxer - an absolute classic JCVD film yet somehow how hard to find in my country (New Zealand).Had this film on DVD for years but have started up-grading all my Van Damme's to Blu-ray and wanted to start with a classic!Kickboxer is a great martial arts film and essential for fans of the genre and/or JCVD.This is Van Damme at his physical best and the film showcases probably his best kicks, flexibility and martial art ability in classic 80's montage style :)The film looks great on Blu-ray - definitely superior to the DVD with the colour and clarity standing out in full HD glory!Despite the age of the film - the transfer to HD is highly impressive and much better than the Blu-ray "no retreat, no surrender" filmed a mere 4 years before Kickboxer. The audio is great too and you can really crank the cheesy 80's soundtrack for a laugh!Slim case packaging looks great, only beef I have with the Blu-ray is the absence of special features. Not even a theatrical trailer - "Boo-urns!"All up I am very please with this purchase - this film is proof that no one kicks like Van Damme!!!I should also specify that although Amazon states this Blu-ray is region A (USA) it actually is All regions and plays on my region B PS3 just fine :)Thanks Amazon for stocking this film at such a great price!Highly recommend this film!!!

One of Van Damme's better films....
Not as good as Bloodsport, but still a very good early Van Damme film. Its a predictable "Rocky" type plot, but still good action & fight scenes. I only gave 4 stars tho bc parts of the backdrop & sets seemed fake, almost homemade even. Perhaps bc movie is so dated, I dunno. Or maybe bc the Blu Ray quality transfer is so good you can tell the movie was an early low budget film, hence the datedness & recognizing low quality props & sets. That said, it's still enjoyable movie to watch overall & Van Damme doesn't fail to deliver. Price was also too good to pass up for Blu Ray... Thanks Amazon!

IF you love Van Damme
Clearly his second best movie (ok, some would say his best) because its a movie about training to fight, and then fighting. Anything else (Cyborg anyone) and poor JCVD is a disaster. I love this movie, but its the high flying kicks, crazy training scenes and humor (intentional and circumstantial) that make this movie. The Blue Ray quality is actually pretty darn good. If you don't like martial arts movies bordering on campy you're going to walk away wondering how this guy EVER got an acting job. BUT, if you like an enjoyable story line where the good guy ALWAYS wins in the end and kicks some butt in creative ways to get there, you'll like this movie as well. Just don't expect the same from his "non-fighting" movies (i.e stick with Bloodsport and maybe...MAYBE Lionheart)-you've got to be a heck of a Van Damme fan to appreciate movies like Cyborg or Double Impact (which I'll admit I thought were "ok). He'll be making an appearance in "The Expendables II"..at least Arnold won't have the worst English in the movie this time. For the price, give Kickboxer a run, you'll enjoy it.

Whoa! Thanks Bluray!
Ive always loved VanDamme movies, but in HD they're even better. I really didnt expect much from this bluray version, but when i put it in to watch, my jaw dropped. It is so clear! Most likely, you have already seen this movie and you just want to know how the bluray quality is. This movie is better with bluray because the setting in bangkok is full of art and nature, and it really shows thru in this movie. Closeups are super sharp.there are one or two scenes where the master video wasn't best quality...like the first hospital scene, you can see the pops and dirt on the film... this problem must have been unavoidable...Finally, buy this bluray!
