Godox sl60ii bi reviewReceived this wonderful little light yesterday and i did not wait to open it and put it through its pace.To start it off, the external is very well built. Even though the the exterior is mainly plastic (minus the reflector, that is metal as usual), i can see the plastic Godox used is very sturdy and it can definitely take a beating :pThe light comes with a very long cable which I really like. That means even you put the light on a high stand, you still got enough cable length to connect it to power outlets further away.The control is very simple, you got a dial for intensity, and a second dial for color temperature and fx effects. You also have 4 other buttons for fx selection, grouping and blue tooth control. It is very intuitive and honestly you don’t need a manual to figure all out.Speaking of control, the light also comes with a remote. Put two aaa batteries in and match the group and channel with the light and you can control the light from far away.As an owner of older Godox LEDs, I am happy to report that I can control the light fully with my phone. Blue tooth connection is easy and can be set up in 10 seconds….then you can have all the fun in the world with the cellphone app! This is great when the light is on a high stand and it is hard to reach.For it is power output, the light is even. Intensity and color control are both precise and gradual. While this light is generally pretty good, I did notice two issues.1, the fan seems to be pretty loud for its size. Since this is a 60w light, if you are using it, most likely you will be pushing 100% power, and honestly, due to its small size and small vents, it does generate quite a bit of fan noise. If you are doing interview/talking head video, the sound can be picked up by your mic if it gets close.2, this is a 60w light, which means it is probably not designed to be used with large and heavy light modifiers. With that said, the mount of the light is still friction base. I wish there are teeth at the mount so it locks in place better even with heavy light modifiers attached to the front. But hey…..most likely you will only use small light modifier or simply with reflector with lower power lights like this one.Over all this light is very solid, and easy to use. Most likely I will use it with reflector for some kind of back light/rim light. I probably won’t attach any heavy modifier on it though.

The Godox SL100Bi punches well above its weight. The bi-color range is versatile, the light output is strong, and color accuracy is spot on. It’s easy to control, runs quietly, and works great with Bowens modifiers. For the price, it’s a solid choice for both photo and video work.

Picked this light up almost a month ago and have been very happy with its performance.I’ve been using this mainly as a photography light with kids which is less disruptive than a flash with them, but also works great for video as well.Right off the bat the light feels like a quality built unit. Metal housing with a large aluminum heat sink. The Bowens mount is also made from aluminum. Glad that this light uses a bowens mount to use with all of My existing soft boxes. I saw a review that stated it was not compatible, which isn’t true. This unit worked fine with all of my Bowens mount accessories.What you get inside the box. The light itself, a bulb protector for storing, a reflector housing, a very long power cord, color gels, and a remote control.The light is extremely bright at full power and is adjustable in 1% increments from 1-100% brightness. The color temperature is none adjustable, fixed at 5600k which is neutral daylight temperature and works perfect. The included color gels allow you to change lighting color outputs as needed if you require.I was very happy to find that the power cord is very long. This is extremely useful in helping you position the light where it’s needed instead of being limited by cord length.The included remote is also a welcome addition that I didn’t think I would need but is very handy. You have the ability to change brightness as well as power the unit off from the remote.The cooling fan is very quiet on this unit and will not be noticeable if used for video.I am very happy with this purchase and will be purchasing a second light for my photo/video needs.

I use this as a podcast light. It is better suited to light 1-2 people at a time. If I'm being honest, I probably should've gone with the 100W option. If you are looking for flood lights to fill the room, you'll need something much more powerful.

The media could not be loaded. So far, this is the best video light I own and has some features that other led video lights don't have. I love how you can use a Bowens-mount modifier to shape the light and that is a huge bonus vs a regular old LED panel. Adding a Bowens-mountsoftbox makes the light appear softer and would be perfect for a video key light where you want your subject's skin to be nice and soft.This light would be perfect for a small studio where you make Youtube videos and also great for doing product photography. Since this light only works while plugged in, it is more of a stationary video light vs an LED light that is hand-held like a stick light.The SL60IIBi comes with 11 effects that would be useful when making videos. You could use these effects either in your main subject or add the lighting effect to the background of your video.Controlling the light is very easy using the adjustment knobs on the back and you can also download the app and control wirelessly via the app. I did not have a 2.4GHz Wireless remote to test but that would be a great option as well. I am a little disappointed the light didn't come with a remote but the phone app did work fine.I think this video light would be a very solid option for any content creators making either videos or photos in a small studio environment. I plan on using this light for a wide variety of jobs and I already have plans to purchase a bunch more since they are so useful for creating video content. I highly recommend this light to video shooters who want lots more control over their video lighting.
