A page turner for sure.
This book was such a beautifully, sad read. I cannot imagine living like Jews back then. Hate is often mans downfall, as it was for some in this book. Putting yourself in peril to help others is not done often. This book touches the heart of love and self sacrifice like few I've read in years. This author really writes with knowledge and facts. I've read three in this series and looking forward to the next one. Hopefully there will be more stories to come for our heroine. Ill be patiently waiting. Thank you Marion Summer is for such a great story.

A Good Read for World War II Buffs - But it’s a Series (Book 3)
I enjoyed this book very much. It came across my Kindle Daily Deals. However, I didn’t realize it was the third book in a series, so I’m a little disappointed that I hadn’t read the first two books before delving into this one. The author references information throughout the novel making it easy to read and follow whether the first two books had been read or not. Now I’m debating whether to read the first two books next or just move onto book four where the story picks up again. Decisions, decisions!

Excellent Book!
The Girl In the Shadows by Marion Kummerow is a great read. It is about a Jewish young woman during WWII who, through unusual circumstances, takes on the identity of a gentile young woman from a high-ranking Nazi"s family. I've read the entire 4 book series and enjoyed - even though there's some very difficult situations she goes through - how Margarethe handles what comes her way. I strongly recommend this book and series for anyone interested in WWII novels with female main characters.

Interesting story with surprising events
I liked this story a lot. It is the third book in the series of four and I was very happy that it kept me interested in and surprised with events that happened which I did not for see or expect.B

Book 3 of 4
This is absolutely an amazing story. Annegret is an amazingly strong woman who is doing everything she can to help her own people and family as well. Trying to maintain being a person you're not is not a choice I think I could choose. But, then again, I'm not in her position. It was life or death, and so far, she's been doing really well. I truly hope she prevails.

A Nice Twist
This was a good book 3. There was a lot of action. The timeline was too short for everything that happened within the book, it felt. I so love the supporting characters, Oliver and Dora. The addition of Stefan was a great addition to the book as well.I don't envy Margarete in her decisions and life.Historical fiction lovers probably will highly enjoy this. Lots of things have been learned. The naturalization process of the Germans was very interesting.

Another fine book
WW2 is in progress, and Nazi passions are running high… especially against Jews! What, then, can the future hold for a young Jewish girl that assumes the identity of a rich German lady? One possibility is explored in this novel, when a young Jewish girl, injured in an Allied air raid, is mistaken for the long-lost heiress. She inherits a luxurious and fully staffed home, extensive grounds and a factory staffed by imprisoned Jews. And… what can be her future when her true identity is learned?

The Girl In The Shadows
Book 3 of 4. This story just gets deeper, & more dangerous as it goes along! Margarete/Annegret walks a knife's edge trying to save "her" Jews without exposing her own "crimes"! In this book she finds a link to the local resistance, & finds herself quite attracted! While the regional head of the SS is quite attracted to her & means to acquire her as his own! Yes, acquire IS the word I intended to use. Before Iose my head & give any spoilers, I'll just say that this book has some very unexpected twists, turns, ups, & downs!

3rd book in the series - it doesn’t disappoint
More turns and twists in the journey of the Jewish Maid, living the life of the daughter of a well-known SS officer. Having established public face as a Nazi supporter she seeks to lead a different life hidden from the world and the story doesn’t disappoint. There is even an unexpected twist at thunder. Heading off to read the last book in the series. Can’t wait to find out how it all ends.

If only....
I like the stories (I'm on book 3 at the moment), albeit the dénouements come a bit quickly and in not enough detail. BUT my frustration in a book written in the English language is the use of words like 'gotten', 'gas pedal', 'moms' as but 3 examples. Yes, I know the author is American, but can she please write in standard English, especially as it is a European theatre of war that she writes about? That would help make them perfect. I am certain that she would easily find alternative words - say 'found', 'accelerator', and 'mothers'. And, no, I don't think I'm being picky. RB

Did not download on my Kindle.
Weird history here as Book 2 of the trilogy loaded on my Kindle, but books 1and 3 just did not. I hate unfinished business, and unfinished stories.
