FIRE HAZARD; SCARY.
I bought a 2 pack of these so I could avoid night drops and light emission for my ball python, who lives in a 4x2x2 vivarium. One of the CHEs didn't even work on arrival, so that's already useless. The one that did work, seemed to work well. After the second day, though, I noticed a burning smell around the viv, looked at the CHE, and it was glowing red hot, even though it was only running at 55% capacity. BIG NOPE. Terrifying. Have gone back to my traditional heat bulb. I will take circadian rhythm interrupt over a smoldering shell of an apartment any day.Back to square one, it seems. Maybe I was wrong to assume this was suitable for a 4x2x2, but still, one never even worked in the first place, and I saw no fire hazard warnings in the product description, nor a chart for which wattage is suitable for which size enclosure.DO NOT get this for a 4x2x2 or wooden enclosure, even if you have a ceramic fixture. You are rolling the dice on losing your home and your animal.

Good for heat and no light
Does dry out the enclosure more, have to keep adding water to keep humidity up.

Good value but poor quality control
Overall these ceramic heaters are good value for money, I tend to replace mine regularly so I know they won’t burn out so buy a fair few at a time.Have these a go this time and the units seem very good, but bulbs inside the boxes were damaged.Delivery package intact, box intact, inner foam protection was intact but bulb bayonets were damaged and unusable.Clearly were packed despite been damaged so quality control in production seems to mean you may get bulbs you can use, you may get garbage. Will see how they last, just need to order more from somewhere to have spare again!

Great, indirect heat
Exceptionally hot surface temperature (300 C on my infrared thermometer) but provides lovely dispersed warmth from as close as 10cm. Seems very well made and was packaged well.

Spot on
Very happy with the product and the delivery time was excellent. They work more efficiently than the red heat globe.
