Van Gogh STARRY NIGHT Acrylic Painting Kit 11" x 14"

I really like that Famous Art Kits teach you actual painting techniques used by the original artist – such as the dry brush technique, and layering colors – in order to achieve the unique effects in the final picture. Makes them more challenging, but the results are exponentially better than that odd "paint by number" look of other kits. The one issue I have with this kit is that the blue paint provided for the swirl in the sky seems to me to be the wrong color. As I eyeball the finished painting guide, it seems to me that the swirl should actually use the same blue as the rest of the sky. Note: I am still in process of painting the picture. If it still looks off when I'm done, I will repaint the swirl over with the same blue as the rest of the sky. - and will update this review.

This turned out so well. I loved the step by step instructions. The quality of the paint was also better than other traditional paint by number kits that I have completed. There are more options on the famous artist website than are shown here too. I ordered 3 more and am very happy with the quality.

I started and finished this painting in a day or two. Very soothing and a lot of fun. The guide included made it easy to understand techniques necessary for making as good a painting as possible but I took a few liberties. nonetheless, I will probably look for others in this series to try out.
