Great for reading to our toddler at bedtime
This is our current bedtime regular, after finishing the first book. Our daughter, who isn't quite two yet, loves to listen and make the occasional comment. The chapters are a little longer than the first, so often I'll get a part way through and have to stop, whereas in the first book we did a chapter a night. The stories are just as fun as the first one, and I can see this whole series coming back for my daughter to read herself when she's able. Me and her mother are certainly enjoying it!

My children are enthralled and I enjoy reading aloud
My children aged 3 and 7 years adore this series of books. My eldest daughter can read independently, but these stories are still a little 'wordy' for her at this stage. I started reading one chapter at bedtime each night, but the fast paced and exciting story line means that the children are always eager to read more. The characters encounter new and exciting lands above the faraway tree in each chapter, their clever thinking means they escape unscathed every time. Adventure, lessons and happy endings... perfect for this age group. I love seeing my children engage with these stories and it has encouraged them to be more imaginative in their own play and storytelling.

Transported back to my youth.
Having loved the Faraway Tree and it's occupants as a child it has been so wonderful sharing this story with my son. We snuggle up and read two or three chapters at a time. Each chapter is kind of like a short story unto itself. As you travel through the book you are on the shoulder of the familiar characters of the faraway tree and participant to all their adventures. The story is mild enough to be read to the youngest literature lover. Truly splendid!
