JENOLITE Directorust 400ml Aerosol Spray Paint for BBQ and Stove - Extra High Temperature Up to 650°C (Silver)

Bought for a wood-burning stove that was needing a bit of a freshen up. Easy to work with. Flows well and coats in a fine mist. Surfaces prepped with wire wool and a bit of sandpaper, a couple of light coats gave a nice even and smooth finish. Covered in less than half a can for a couple of coats. Lower odour than other paints too. This was the second attempt following a terrible result using the big name brand beginning with 'R' a certain DIY chain sells. Night and day. No clogging, no streaks and runs, and no peeling and cracking when subjected to high temperatures. The finish is a properly flat matt. Actual colour I'd say is more towards a very dark grey than completely black, so maybe want to look out for that if looking to match existing paint, but it looks good on our stove. I don't leave reviews that often, but this is great stuff and deserves the good reviews.

Have used this to cover over some flu repair to make it look part of the stove and make the top of my fireplace look amazing. Very easy to apply, doesnt flake and ive had the burner on a few times so has done a great job.

Excellent product. It has given my fireplace a deep matt black finish. I used it to paint the fireboards surrounding my wood burner. The coverage is amazing and if I had realised it was so good I would have ordered the smaller 250ml tin. As it is I now still have most of a 500ml tin left over. The fumes are pretty hefty so make sure you have a big window open and ideally create a through-draft by wedging open another door or large window. If you can’t do that I would recommend setting up a fan to blow the fumes away from you towards an open window.

Very matte but covers well, easy to use, best to use with a mask on a ventilated area when applying. Not sure if I would use over rust in an exterior setting in damp climates.

I chose this Jenolite product for it's reasonable price and the number of good reviews it had. The paint arrived very quickly and well packaged in a sturdy box. I will warn you from the off though, that the paint is extremely thin and runny so if you purchase a tin yourself be very careful upon opening the lid as the product can easily splash out and around and down the side of the tin.. (well it did in my case lol). Despite being thin, it actually covers quite well and I managed to completely cover a white background in just two coats (see photos). If painting indoors, use plenty of masking and splash covers as the paint spots can travel some distance. You will also need plenty of ventilation as the fumes are quite potent and strong. As a bonus though, drying time is very rapid with the first coat (in my case) drying in around 40 mins and with a second coat applied, it was completely dry after about one and a half hours. Why only a three star rating then?? Well, after reading all of the info on the side of the tin, I was left wondering whether I should be risking life and limb with this paint. A bit of an overstatement I know but the warnings are enough to frighten the life out of anyone, lol. But all joking aside, the biggest bugbear I have is the lack of information regarding cleaning the paintbrush after use! Nowhere on the tin does it state what is required for brush cleaning. I discovered this to my horror and disgust after I had applied a first coat. As the brush started to dry out between coats, I attempted to wash the brush in turps.. nope, turps doesn't touch it. Water perhaps, I thought.. nope, that also has no effect. I finally resorted to acetone which merely kept the brush soft but still didn't dissolve the product. So what on earth does it take to clean off this paint and why oh why isn't it stated on the tin?? I can only recommend the use of a disposable paintbrush with this paint which obviously negates the products reasonable purchase price!

Lo utilicé para pintar la barbacoa que estaba un poco oxidada y descolorida y ha quedado como nueva. El color es negro forja idéntico al de la barbacoa. Contento. Volveré a comprarlo

Compré este producto para aplicarlo en el tubo de escape de mi coche y el resultado ha sido excelente. Seca muy rápido, en pocos minutos ya está completamente seco al tacto (el escape era un poco caliente), lo que facilita mucho el trabajo. La aplicación es sencilla y el spray pulveriza de forma uniforme, sin goteos ni acumulaciones. Lo utilicé sobre metal limpio y desengrasado, y la adherencia fue muy buena desde la primera capa. Después de dejarlo secar y arrancar el coche, comprobé que resiste perfectamente el calor sin cambiar de color ni desprender olor. El acabado es uniforme y de buen aspecto. Aunque es algo más caro que otros productos similares, la calidad compensa totalmente el precio y ha valido la pena pagarlo.
