I discovered Wild Pecan Rice years ago when it was more readily available at my local markets. Unfortunately, it has disappeared from the shelves of every grocery store I've checked in recent years, even the high end upscale food markets of which there are plenty in my area. Since it is grown exclusively in Louisiana, I even tried some markets on a trip to Houston last year, that was close enough to Louisiana so I was sure I would find it there but no luck! I finally resorted to buying a 10 lb. bag directly from Konriko which was fine but I also had to pay shipping on a 10 lb. package - ouch!Back in the days when I could find it at local stores, it sold for about $4 per box and I found the online prices to be more like $8 per box plus shipping so I was pleased to find in available in a case lot with Amazon Prime shipping at a price that made it about $4.50 a box.If you have not tried this wonderful rice I highly recommend it. This is not a 'seasoned' rice flavored with other ingredients, it is a variety of rice with its own unique flavor. It is very fragrant and smells sort of like popcorn when it is cooking and has a delicate pronounced 'nutty' flavor - in comparison regular brown or even Basmati Rice tastes rather bland. If you have tried Jasmine Rice and are familiar with how different its scent and flavor is compared with regular white rice, you will find the comparison between Wild Pecan Rice and regular brown rice comparable. I love this rice and am pleased to have found a source for it online at a reasonable price.

I have loved this product for years and the flavor of the rice went well with so many dishes. They have changed the ingredients. We calling Konrico and they were having trouble getting the seasoning for the small packet that used to be included in the box. They have dropped it but the directions are still on the box to add it to the rice in the pan. They still had boxes with those directions on them and they were going to use them until they were gone. The box instructions would be changed on the new boxes to accommodate the missing packet. It is basically just a quicker cooking brown rice—nothing special. I will not be buying this product again. Too bad because it used to be delicious.

A slightly nutty flavoring.

The rice tastes just like rice. If you want wild rice, then look elsewhere or prepare to be disappointed.

We bought some at the mill in Louisiana and knew we'd want more. These small boxes will serve well when we're on the road in our RV, but I found a more economical, burlap, 10lb bag (with 5 convenient, sealed 2lb packages within) in the Konriko catalogue for home use. Everyone who tastes this loves it. It's no ordinary rice and well worth the price.

This is excellent rice, but way too expensive about ten times the amount of other rice when purchase this way
