Plenty of water pressure and excellent volume
Ordered this 1-hp Red Lion pump as a spare when it was on sale and so glad I did. We are on well water, so having spare parts on hand like pump, pipes, connectors, solvent, etc. is a most. After the old pump failed, I had everything I needed to replace it with this pump. Although I bought it when it went on sale, even at normal price it would've been much less expensive than buying a pump locally. The pump is quiet, runs smoothly and provides our house with 60 psi of water pressure, which is plenty of pressure and volume. Like most jet pumps, it requires priming when it's first turn on. When we first move to the house, I made a permanent connection between the irrigation pump piping and the house pump piping with a valve in between. So I used the irrigation pump to supply water under pressure to prime the Red Lion pump and it was up and running in no time. The pump looks and feel like it's well made and runs well. The pressure switch is set to 30-50 psi, so I adjusted it to 40-60 psi. The best way to do this is to turn the pressure adjusting nut clockwise and count each full turn. One full turn of the nut equals approximately 2.5 psi.Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one of these pumps in the future. It's a great quality pump and I recommend it.

So far - Great Pump
Great suction and output of this pump.Drawing from point 23 feet in the ground.Watering lawn and washing cars with this unit.It does put out 60 psi!Very happy so far.I would recommend a bigger output fan on motor case..Update 10-12-22 I love this pump! Served me well this summer. No issues whatsoever! I still recommend a larger fan for the motor. Heat kills motors. This puppy get quite hot. Fully winterized now for winter. Will fire up in the spring.05/15/23 fired up for spring (made sure no night freeze) working great. I have seen other post complaining about broken pump necks - my response - you let the damn pump freeze! Of course there will be expansion caused by freeze. Iron does not like freezing when h2O is involved. My recommendation is, pay attention to the weather - if it is below freezing at night, dont prime your pump for the season. You will see failure................Update 06/15/23 pump is rocking away. No issues. I did freak out about pump neck cracks being reported and took it upon myself to add 2 part epoxy to the neck of pump as a preventative measure. So far, so good. Very happy with this pumps performance. Manufacturer - please consider using a bigger fan on this pump. This baby gets quite hot and I do not need another place to cook eggs.4-18-24 Fired up unit after long winter sleep. Working great. (Make sure you winterize this pump properly) I have seen the stories of cracking pump heads. That is directly tied to improper winterizing.I have also added 2 part epoxy to the pump head for a just in case back up. Mo issues at all.

Hot garbage
Endless problems, endless problems, had to prime this hunk of crap at least 20 times to get it to run, then out of the blue a week later aka this morning, it just quits pumping water again, went down to see what was going on and it was to hot to touch. What a nightmare and complete waste of time and money

Good product
We purchased a returned unit and it was full of rust. That being said I have purchased several economy units prior to this one, while they have their place, this unit was for a permanent pressure system and is much better for that purpose. It can also be rebuilt easily.Well worth the cost. I would purchase another should the need arise.

Cracked over the winter, despite being empty
I live in central Indiana and last winter my barn never reached below about 20 degrees. Prior to the winter, I drained the pump and disconnected power. Despite this, the cast iron housing developed a major crack.I recommend that if you install one of these in an unheated area, you leave the drain plug out over the winter to avoid any possibility of water somehow building up in the pump. For the replacement housing, Red Lion recommended me to 'esupplydepot' for the part. Their price was $60 more than the Red Lion store here on Amazon.Otherwise, it works great. Good pressure, decent noise level.

Powerful jet pump
So we bought this as a secondary pump in case something happens to my variables speed pump or pressure drops below 50 psi this red line jet pump kicks in. Did a lot of research and talk to my uncle in law that's a water and sewer specialist and red lions are known for being very reliable and not very expensive. That was the selling feature for me once I got the backup from him and he does this for a living works for a major company

GRRRRR... another defective product on delivery
The media could not be loaded. Just wasted two hours of my life installing this piece of crap pump to replace another piece of crap that only lasted an hour. This one went 30 seconds. I picked the "premium" more expensive option this time too.I have the same defective pressure switch as others have reported going back THREE YEARS, and they are still shipping them!UPDATE: the pump comes wired for 230v and that's what I was using. I remembered the old Square D pressure switch was still attached to the piping system. I ran the power back through that pressure switch, then attached the two live wires to the two wired connectors in the Red Lion pressure switch thus bypassing the Red Lion pressure switch, and the pump runs great. I am returning the pump and have orders a replacement. I will see if the second one is defective too.

Great pump, rebuild parts available
This is a good quality jet pump. Rebuild parts are readily available, unlike many of the pumps from China that you throw away after they wear out. The three warranty is only OK, as Red Lion will only supply you with one part or kit. My first pump had pump housing threads that corroded or eroded so the pump nozzle would not seat, this also caused the impeller and diffuser to fail. Red Lion supplied a new pump case, but not the rebuild kit under warranty. Overall I would, recommend this pump.

Super performance
The pump came wired for 220V. I modified the house wiring to supply this voltage as it has a ton of advantages over the alternative 110V. Surprised and pleased to find a pressure gauge included in the package. Installation was straightforward. The all-important priming instructions were clear; the pump had the right priming ports in the right places. Got it pumping water quickly. It's been running flawlessly for two weeks. No reason to doubt that it will remain in service for many years.
