Among the rarest of Motown's rare grooves and making its vinyl debut: the original mix of Ross's smash 1980 album that featured 'Upside Down' and 'I'm Coming Out.' CHIC's Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers produced the album and delivered this mix - only to see it rejected and remixed by Motown's in-house team. The original CHIC mix was a Motown myth until its inclusion in the diana: deluxe edition in 2003. It's now where it belongs, on vinyl - and pink vinyl, to boot.

Original Chic Mixes Sound Warmer On Vinyl
It's nice to know how these mixes would have sounded had they been released on vinyl. I have the deluxe version on CD and can say I thought the Chic mixes were just okay. On vinyl they sound a lot warmer and I have grown to really like them now. If want to hear how it would have been I highly recommend the vinyl version.

"diana" comes out triumphantly up
After the emotional revelation that was "The Boss", the Chic-produced "diana" left hardcore fans confused and disappointed. But the general public embrace it as "the album of summer 1980.Like it's predecessor, "diana" launched off summer with a Memorial Day Weekend hot release.Uncharacteristically, Motown did NOT release a single for an entire month. It proved a stroke of genius because the album was played in its entirety for that first 4 weeks. It triggered album sales during that time period debuting at *88 and by its 4th week leaping into the Top 10.The record buying public seemed oblivious to the inner fighting by Diana & Motown vs. Nile Rogers/Bernard Edwards.The original "Chic" mix would not see a release until two decades later.Diana had been known to perform multiple cuts from her new album. ("The Boss" had 6 of its 8 cuts included in a revised version of her "Tour'79 Tour that eventually became an HBO sensation).By the time "diana" sold nearly 10 million copies internationally, the much discussed "Chic" mixes surfaced on a "diana"/Deluxe Edition."Upside Down" sported a hotter instrumental ending, "Tenderness" now had a classic extended disco riff and "I'm Coming Out" sounded fun, crazy with Diana somehow scaling up and down.It really became much easier for a fan to love

Disco perfetto ed emozionante, anche sotto il profilo della qualità del suono. Si tratta delle versioni incise ma poi scartate dagli Chic. In effetti è un disco diverso dal classico Diana, in quanto le versioni hanno un arrangiamento parzialmente differente e anche la voce di Diana Ross sembra più vera, come se fosse presa in diretta. Tutto perfetto, come sempre con Amazon!

Fantastic reissue of a classic album
Fantastic reissue of a classic album. I particularly love the pink vinyl. I always preferred the Diana Ross mix of the songs, but enjoy comparing the Chic mixes.
