FLAMBEAU Rod Tube 3"/38-72"

I chose this model over the more expensive ones because I'm only using it to protect rods stowed in my car and car-top carrier. It works fine for that purpose, but recognize that it's basically an expandable plastic tube. If you're planning to use it for similar situations, it's a great value but I certainly wouldn't try to use it as checked baggage on an airline or other riskier situations.

I purchased this tube, as it looked like exactly what I needed, at least on paper. However, upon receiving the tube, it was damaged in the box. The damage is due to cheap assembly. The fixed cap on the bottom of the tube was laying in the bottom of the box. There are 2 small plastic rivets that hold the cap on, both of which were broken off. The PVC tubing is very thin and flimsy. The threads on both the coupling screw for the telescoping feature, as well as the threads on the top opening that the lid screws onto, make it very easy to over-tighten and doesn't hold. Overall, I wouldn't use this item to store and protect dirt, let alone anything of value like a fly rod.

Works as advertised. It's a plastic tube with caps. notto much to go wrong with it. A little thin, but not expensive.

Holds 3 two-piece, 6.5' spinning rods and fits in an overhead bin on a 737 or Embraer. The only issue that anyone may have is that it is not lockable, but as it does go on the plane with you, that shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Other than the sturdiness, it's also adjustable in length and could easily fit two poles. Great investment for storing your precious fishing poles.

I could not find a small diameter Bazooka Tube for my two piece Spey rod. Until I got my new Flambeau Tube. Perfect and lightweight.

Holder is adequate as far as capacity (2 rods). Needs some sort of clasp so a lock can be attached for airline check-in. Also the oval shape makes it difficult to hold for a long time.

This is a flimsy item that looks likes like it will do the job but in the end won't cut it. I bought this to transport surf rods, but they large eye won't fit. The clamping device to extend and lock is plastic and will break easily. the top is screw on and the threads are to shallow, it pulls right off. Spend a few extra and get the Plano.I return this item.
