Q: what are these made from - granite?

Certainly not granite. But of some type of fluid (gel) in a hard plastic shell. However they are not the type of bottle you cuddle. More like a bed warmer. However, if kept covered, they retain their heat, for 10/15 hours. If you have a circulation problem, or similar, (as do I.) they are a godsend.

Q: Can I heat 2 of these heat pads together in the microwave at the same time?

I don't know - I think best to contact the manufacturer. If you heat 2 cups of coffee at the same time you have to allow more time, so you might not save much anyway, and I wouldn't put one hot pad on top of the other in case they overheated. But do ask the experts!

Q: How thick is the hard disc without the cover? It has a diameter of 9", but I don't see the width anywhere.
