Not your typical Chinese cookbook
I was on the fence when pre-ordering this--so many cookbooks promise an authentic experience but end up just recreating the American Chinese takeout menu. When I saw that the first section of this book was dedicated to leafy greens followed by a section on stems/shoots/flowers, I knew this book was different. I'm particularly excited to try some of the recipes in the Gluten section.Just from quickly browsing the book, nothing seems too complicated--everything seems to have a reasonable amount of steps and ingredients. Although, I imagine it would be difficult to replicate some of these dishes if you don't have access to a decent Asian grocery store with a variety of ingredients.

Amazing level of detail
I love well researched books that have depth and detail in the steps. The set of dishes is much more traditional than just the regular type one would get at an American Chinese restaurant which is a big plus. There’s a photo for practically every recipe and the quality of photography is amazing. I’m looking forward to cooking from it, and see how it can be my go to for Chinese cooking

Beautiful
Okay so the star rating could be over inflated as I have not tried any of the recipes but the rating is based on my first impressions of the book as a quality publication, beautiful pictures, well layed out and a lovely addition to my collection.

Artistically beautiful!
This book inspires me to cook. I usually don't but the recipes seem to be very easy to follow. It's definitely worth trying. The book itself is beautiful. The pictures are mouth watering :) I highly recommend.
