This Weller solder is a good companion for my Weller soldering station. It melts, and flows very nice and smooth. Seems to have just the rite amount of flux in the center so the solder will adhere properly. Excellent product.

I never had a soldering issue when I was a kid, today I have cold solders, not melting well, not absorbing into wires, so since I have very good soldering skills, i thought my chinease solder must be bad so i forked out the money for this solder. Ahhhh, the good old days of solder doing what it did as a kid. It flows perfectly, makes smooth joints, shines like it should, the melted solder solidifies with the expected contours, and zero cold solder joints. I tested the solder strength and could not pull it apart with a hefty pull. I will never buy another solder, its not worth the failures of cheap solder.

Good deal price

Had an Amphenol PL-259 coax connector that has four nickel plated brass coax shield ground holes that need to be soldered.I doubled the solder by twisting, and then touched a Weller 120 watt soldering iron to each shield ground hole for round about five seconds or so, and the solder flowed perfectly over the nickel plated brass down onto the coax copper ground shield. Nice and shiny too. No flux needed not even on nickel plating. Made in Japan.

Sure, you don't have a whole lot of choice in terms of composition but brand just...seems to make a difference. Maybe it's the difference in resins for the flux core in the center, maybe it's the manufacturing process, or maybe it's just what position the Earth is in compared to the moon...but some brand just hit differently when soldering. So I try to sample as much solder as I can to find my perfect solder that just works for me. I still haven't found it but I was hoping that the Weller leaded solder would be my huckleberry, so I opted to try it.It comes in a simple coil on a spool in a bag. No frills. It tells the type (including the reorder number), the size, the weight, the alloy composition, and the lot on a sticker on top. Solder is simple in its procurement but the proof is in the puddle. I used my Weller WLC100 solder station and just practiced letting it flow on some spare circuit board. The flow on it is very good, with good wicking as well. It really melts and gets into the nooks and crannies easily, which isn't surprising to me as, according to the alloy, it's a fairly high lead level (Tin 60, Lead 40 with 2.2% rosin). They always tend to flow well and, with it being a Weller product, there's probably minimal to no contaminants in it that will fudge a good bead or good adhesion.Overall, it's a great product and I'd expect no less from Weller. The problem is that it's $15 for 100g of solder. It's great stuff but, in terms of Sn40Pb...that's a pretty high price to pay. You can certainly get it cheaper and the difference between a good (or even mediocre Sn40Pb) and a great Sn40Pb...isn't a huge range. So, if you're feeling flashy, or you want to ensure good adhesion, good bond strength, easy flow, and just an overall easy solder job, go for this. Consider this your primo stuff for primo projects. But you can get away with cheaper and not see much different. So, up to you.

This is the stuff dreams are made of. Melting point is good, alloy is great, and flow is excellent. It's in direct contrast to cheap Chinese solder, which is outright frustrating to use.

Is what it is.

I’ve used many different solders over the decades, this is from recent experience with current available types, the best I have used for wetting and solder-ability. I would buy this again in a blink. It is not inexpensive but excellent value for the savings in time and frustration plus better results.

After consistent disappointing results from cheap Chinesium solder, i finally bit the bullet and bought this. Excellent wettability and flow characteristics with low flux residue and smoke. About 180C melting point. Strong, shiny joints with high conductivity. Can't really go wrong with anything Weller.

Advertised as lead free, despite the fact the back of the item clearly says it contains lead.Recall this item now. Weller needs to explain why their site has two listings with exact same product type number yet one says its lead free and other contains lead.
