dark zone
Good, could be real contemporary read re Ukraine v Putin. “Confirmation” that USA is involved in this atrocity. Enjoy the read. Best read long periods, rather than many short times.

feel a great sympathy to General Yershov
“Dark Zone” illustrates a good example of right prevailed and of good systems worked. Op-Center makes strenuous efforts to obstruct a plan intended to produce a threat to a powder keg region. The story begins with an assassination of a former Ukrainian female spy. Her throat is slashed by a sharpened edge of an Amex card, while she jogs along the East River. Concurrently, Op-Center realizes existence of a VR game unfolded at Russian bases near the Ukrainian border. An analysis and a guessing, everything points to a planned sortie against Russian bases in Crimea. Who is actually orchestrating this brinkmanship operation ? Op-Center planned for recon to assess the situation there. Volner’s team was sent to go into a flammable situation with least information. Jeff Rovin and George Galdorisi depict main characters with their unique personal histories and their peculiar situation as much as possible manner, which gives profound taste to the story development. I have no choice but to feel a great sympathy to General Yershov. His miserable future was locked when he was appointed to be a commander of Sudzha. Even if he fortunately find a preferable solution for Putin in that lose-lose situation, acclaim is immediately snatched by his superior, as always seen in the real business scene. His fate seems to speak for the sorrow of the middle management.

Tom & Co.
Clancy was always way ahead of true events, it’s just plain scary sometimes! Rainbow Six was very high in my worried mind these past two years, now to the next adventure!

Where is the Soviet Op Center?
I'm halfway through this book, still missing the P Hood crew, and I wonder what happened to our Soviet counterpart that P Hood worked well with? I'm totaly wrapped up in the story and have a hard time putting the book down. That said I liked the original crew better than these characters.

Great series!
The op center series continues to reflect current issues, not just US vs Soviet Russia.

Good plot, horrible editting
The premise and plot were great. The editors, however, missed their marks. Not just grammatical errors, I could have attributed that to an odd artistic choice. The wrong words in several instances created temporary confusion. For example, characters were to read maps to get a feel for the "reason" not the "region." Similarly, the word "alter" instead of "after." It really cheapness the story.I think someone, editor, friend, even the author , should have reviewed it for clarity as well. I can overlook the flaws in govt agencies' missions, but the characters were not consistently represented. It really read like a great first draft that was rushed to publication. Again, the plot and premise held great promise, and with attention to detail could have been the foundation for a great novel.

OK, but
There was way too much verbiage/useless information in places. You could skip pages at a time without missing anything of importance.

Disappointing
I have always loved the Op-Center series. I was excited when I saw that there was a new book out in the series and immediately bought it.How I miss Tom Clancy though. I'm disappointed in the quality of this story. It was pretty bland. There seemed to be no thrill of the hunt, no real tension of the crisis and no real hero to step up to provide a calm, gentle voice or reason and strength to the "crisis."Maybe the better question is, was there really a crisis that the United States should have been worried about? It doesn't seem to me that the stage was set properly for an international crisis that required the services of Op-Center or even any other American Agency.Sorry to say, it was boring. I struggled to get through it. I finished it mainly because I hoped to find a great switch to the story that would make it awesome, unfortunately that didn't happen. It seemed to end abruptly with no real thrill of victory or defeat.
