Excellent!
Great seller, this book is just what I was looking for and is in great condition. The hardcover is a bonus! Now I don’t have to keep checking out the library copy.

SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
I get real real annoyed at many of the beading books who incorporate methods to condense the diagrams & instructions of projects. Sometimes instead of a good diagram there's a lot of confusing text. Sometimes the diagrams incorporate several steps into one small little diagram by using different colored lines within that diagram to show the stitching paths. Sometimes they use both methods on one page only. Diane breaks down each shape with diagrams that start with the simplest beginning & develop step by step with each progressing diagram. She really breaks down & makes understandable the construction of these shapes. I no longer feel that these dimensional shapes are so intimidating anymore thanks to Diane's illuminating book!

Inspiration Returns...
I received my copy yesterday and wrote her to let her know how wonderful I feel this new book she has written, is. This book has really inspired me to get back to beading. She sent me a nice reply.Dear Diane, I normally do not write to authors, but I had to write to you. I have bought many beading books over the past 4 years, but "Shaped Beadwork" is, by far, the absolute best investment I made in a beading book. It is very well written and beautifully illustrated. Your beadwork in this book has inspired me more than any other tome has. I am awed by the beauty you have created with beads, in this book. I have been in a "burned out" stage, due to some major beading I did for a show this past December, which did not do well at all. This book has made me want to really bead again, with the same gusto as when I started 4 years ago. Thank you so much for this book and I am so glad I really decided to purchase it. I had purchased "Zulu Inspired Beadwork" and also "The Beaded Garden" a year or so ago, and love them. I finally broke down and bought your book "Netted Beadwork" as I love bead netting, but I am still waiting for that to arrive.Thank you so much for this newest book of yours. Nothing but absolute inspiration. You rock!!!Best wishes,D. Shuster Diane Fitzgerald's Shaped Beadwork: Dimensional Jewelry with Peyote Stitch (Beadweaving Master Class)

FANTATIC WONDERFUL BOOK.
What can I say? Diane Fitzgerald is wonderful, her instructions are clear and easy to follow and her designs are to die for. I found when looking thru her book I get inspired to come up with some of my own designs. The attached picture is the first thing I did after reading her book I was so inspired. The triangles necklace is reversible. If you are hesitant about buying this book and afraid you will waste your money. Believe me it is a wonderful investment. I turn to it all the time it is my go to book for shaped beadwork as is her Shaped Beadwork and Beyond. I even emailed Mrs. Fitzgerald and she emailed me back and answered by questions and told me my necklace was beautiful. I felt on the top of the world for my mentor to tell me that and to tell me that the retail value of it should be $300.00. I find though she is not the only one who writes these great books that will reply back. These people who write these books are wonderful about replying. Don't you just love them? I know I do.

the most amazing mental and physical therapy!!!!!
I have MS and was in the hospital when my daughter brought this book to me. Looking at the photos gave me confidence to tackle the one stitch that has been my challenge since beginning to bead over 30 years ago. While the doctors were deciding whether i would have to go to a nursing home i was busy learning how to do these shapes. My MS is centered on my right side and that is my dominant hand. I shake uncontrollably sometimes and it was a challenge. But the more i concentrated on learning to bead the shapes the less my hand shook. To put it bluntly i worked on the shapes in this book and i am busting out of this place today!!!!! My hand is almost normal and i am doing peyote shapes like mad!!! I have always been a fan of Diane Fitzgerald and i am so very grateful for this book. I am going home and not to a nursing facility. Beading is therapy and anyone who has a problem with that is nuts! Beading and Diane Fitzgerald rock!

Great stuff for a smart beginner, and inspires growth if you're advanced
The chapters cover 2-D shapes, open shapes, 3-D shapes, art deco inspirations, ethnic inspirations, and contemporary inspirations. The directions are fabulous! A lot like the teaching format of Step-by-Step beads magazine, clearly illustrated with super close up photo's and easy to understand diagrams! Like the title says, it's all peyote stitch with "glue a cabochon or sew on a nailhead/rose montee" for the little stone embellishments.Unlike a lot of books that fill in pretty pictures, but they aren't covered or mentioned, you can make EVERYTHING you see in this book, no question about it. The really great thing is they're all taught component by component, how you mix/match and ultimately create something is totally up to you so you know your design will be a piece out of your own imagination when you're done!My personal favorites will mostly be the "open shapes". So much potential to link necklaces, frame beads, and make custom toggles! If you're a celtic nut, she covers a trefoil in her ethnic chapter that's AWESOME!!I'm so tired of the basic 101 bead books that recycle the same knowledge with different pictures. I hope this isn't the only "Beadweaving Master Class" that Lark Books chooses to publish. Bring on the challenges!! ;-)

A bit of a let-down
I've always enjoyed Ms Fitzgerald's books and I have learned a lot from them. When I saw this new one, I had to have it. The shaped beads and the techniques for making them are fascinating and I enjoyed looking at the samples and trying to follow the instructions.Sadly, this is where this could-be-wonderful book falls down. There are too many errors to be excused as just one of those unfortunate things. Yes, I know corrigenda are available from the author's web site. There are two A4 pages of corrections and Ms Fitzgerald does not seem unduly concerned about that. The worst is yet to come: the corrections have errors, too. Enough said.
