GM Genuine Parts GT261 (19207873) Fuel Tank Filler Cap

This cap replaced a Motorad locking cap that I bought a few months ago. The Motorad cap was too tight in the filler neck opening, requiring IMO too much effort to remove or replace it. My vehicle is a recent purchase that I'm working through readying for it's Calif emissions test. The self-tests (I/M readiness monitors) that vehicles do after their battery is disconnected and reconnected, was failing at the last step, EVAP (with the other cap). I bought this cap because it was designed by GM for their vehicles. The cap fits the filler opening better and the EVAP monitor passed later, unfortunately exposing other problems with the vehicle that I'm now working through. I wish GM sold a locking version of this cap. On this vehicle though, the rubber hoses that connect the filler neck to the tank are plainly visible in the wheel well. So a locking cap is more about appearing to be more work for thieves anyway, than actual security. If you're having gas cap problems with your GM vehicle and this one fits it, just buy this.

This is as described, fit my 2000 bonneville perfectly. Super easy to install and sealed up the filler neck, just tighten the 3 clicks and after a short drive the service engine light is off. Had a very rough idle on restart after it was warmed up and this solved it.

Don't go to the big box stores this one works great and it's OEM The box store one fits too snug barely can't get it in probably won't in the winter

Just got this today and replaced my old cap which had been popping off in cold weather and I could also just feel that it wasn't getting a proper seal when tightening it back on. This new cap fit my 2000 Buick Park Avenue perfectly and has a great feeling seal. I'm hoping my old cap was causing some issues I've been having. I know the old cap had to have been affecting my EVAP system. Not sure if this will cure anything, but my old cap needed replacing either way and this one is a perfect replacement. I always buy A/C Delco for GM automobiles and was glad to find this type here in stock at half the price of an auto parts store.
