very nice mount
mounted very nice on my 2013 F250. Held my Surface 2 nice and steady for the kid in the back seat. Also worked for the iPad. It's a little pricey but it is made of real metal for the most part and works really nice. Very easy to install and adjust.

Over engineered beautifully, but one major flaw.
Is this the best headrest mount available? Absolutely. However, it still has a major flaw - it makes a terribly annoying noise - a squeak. Always. Squeaks. I read the reviews about the squeak, and ignored them because I figured it was user error. Not the case - they were all right. I even torqued down the pivot, to eliminate it's swinging capability, still squeaked. Tried various degrees of tension on device, still squeaked. Even took my case off tablet, still squeaked.Everything about this head rest mount is over engineered and awesome - except that vertical piece that's 1) height adjustable and 2) spring loaded for device retention. I eliminated the tensioner in this piece, and double bolted the piece onto the plexi panel...permanently - removable with tools of course. It now only fits the one tablet I mount here on a daily basis. The soft rubber knobs themselves have enough give to stick the device in there, but also hold it in place. If I ever get a new tablet, I'll just have to re customize it. No big deal.So why 4 stars for something that I pretty much had to destroy? Because like I said, it is still the best head rest mount on market. I have already gotten 200 hours of use out of it. And frankly, with exception of the s***ty adjustability vertical piece, this thing it worth every penny. Everything is made of metal, and any hardware that may break after 3 years is available at a hardware store. I'd buy it again, JUST for the bracket that actually mounts to your head rest supports - meaning I could customize my own accesory somehow

Squeaky and needed constant maintenance
I purchased 5 of these last summer. At first I was very pleased with them they seemed to work great. The metal makes them feel very strong and sturdy. Within the first month the squeaking started and the kids started complaining of the screens shaking a lot. The screws come loose in these and eventually they started to fall apart. For the money spent on these I should not have to be doing a weekly tightening of these units. The kids stopped using them altogether since they shook more and were noisy. By end of the summer I took all of them down.I was looking for strong and sturdy put them in and forget about them. These were not it.

Can't hold up to the bumpy ride.
This worked great about 2 times. Then after it was stored and brought out to use again, well not so good. The screws are coming loose and parts are starting to fall off. The top bar that holds the iPad in place no longer holds the iPad and just makes a very annoying rattle noise. The bumpy ride of a car is just no match for this mount. I would look for a less "mechanical" mount that does not have so many moving parts that can fall off or come "loose" after a car ride.

A Little Pricey and bearly fits (with effort) an iPad4 with LifeProof nuud
I did some research on various headset mounts and decided this head rest due to its advertised construction materials and sturdy appearance. Overall the unit is a bit pricey than others; however my biggest factor was how it secured to the headrest and its universal device size capability. Unfortunately for me, I use LifeProof nuud cases for my iPad 4's and these mounts barely fit an iPad 4 with the LifeProof nuud case. While my tablets are designed to stay in the car, the passengers may want to pull them off and use them. Unless you’re an adult or an older teen, the ability to fit an iPad 4 with the LifeProof nuud case on these mounts is downright a time-wasting chore. Yes, it can be done, but it’s not worth the physical effort and strain (at least to me it’s not worth it); and for smaller children...forget it. I even DYI'd the clamping mechanism’s spring hoping to gain a few precious millimeters; but it is still difficult to get in an out; and quite frankly doesn't hold the unit as soundly as I would have hoped. And no matter what, the Lifeproof case is a higher priority than these mounts; meaning the case stays on no matter what.I have considered the dangers of an auto collision and with any type of mount there is always going to be an inherent risk of a flying object (but no more than someone holding a tablet or phone at the time of impact). Plus unless the collision is from the rear severe enough to dislodge the unit from the bracket and send it towards my precious cargo... well I am not safety scientist but the risk was low enough to justify the convenience this mount offers.Hind sight being twenty \ twenty; which also equates to providing you a sound advice, I would (and recommend you to) do more diligence on table size specifications that a mount can accommodate before spending the money.Am I happy with the purchase? As my 3-star rating depicts…yes the unit is “okay;” and wasn’t worth the effort to return (not that I could due to the modification)…however I occasionally search for alternative mounting technology. One final note, my personal tablet is the new iPad Air and the size factor is not an issue with these mounts…
