Patience grasshopper
Just got this kit. My first. Parts are well stamped cut without issues. Don’t have a clue how to glue nor assemble. The instruction sheet is a little weak on pictures. However even if I completely botch this boat, it is a valuable learning cure for me. And the first thing I learned is that I am going to have to be far more patient than I thought. My first endarver is to itentify all the pieces and place them in each step as they occur.

-(((Fun build)))-
Listen, I’m constantly reading horrible reviews on these cheap wood boats because of the lack of instructions and how breakable the wood is. And as this is only my third boat I have ever done, and all of them turning out the same even though they was cheap, didn’t hinder me in any way what so ever. I know nothing about boats and ships and had to do some google searching just to figure out what most of these pieces were even called on boats. A few basic searches for most of these pieces placements was easy to say the least. Not really sure where the disconnection is here with people having difficulty with these kits. I would love to be able to buy one of the more expensive wood ship kits, but as my wallet is limited on funds, I’m kinda stuck learning on these super low cost kits here. Is it annoying? Yes, but if I can learn the basics on these cheaper kits, I’ll be able to easily move on to better quality, higher price ships in the future if given a chance. I did a lot of process shots and figured it might be helpful for those of you that are having trouble with planking, as that seems to be one of the big complaints with people other than placement instructions. Seeing as I feel that the planking is the most fun for me, I should post up pics of the process as I went along. Yes, I did mod my version a bit by adding copper pins to look like micro sized nails. I think it gives it a more scaled to size look. I just used copper wire cut down to the length of each nail needed and pre drilled the holes for each one before insertion. Once the boat is sanded smooth, the pins will sand smooth with it. Like I said, yes it’s a cheap kit. But that don’t mean you can’t have fun with it and turn it into a sweet little build. Just take your time and relax. Turn on a movie or tv show in the background. Zone out and have a good time. This was only my 3rd boat and I can complete one easily within a couple days. Personally, I think they turned out even better than they were supposed to. Even better than the company planned them to be. But I’ll let you skim through my process shots and judge it for yourself. Give these little kits a chance. If you go in with the mindset that you will fail, you probably will. Try starting this kit with the mindset that you know you can handle a small wood boat kit. And even if you don’t get all the part placements correct, that doesn’t mean it won’t look great. Most people won’t even notice if your rigging is incorrect or roped off wrong. And even if somebody does see a mistake, who cares! Unless you are getting paid to listen to other people’s B.S., just ignore it and keep having fun with your project. I know this is another long winded review, but after noticing how many people that give up on these small kits, I just feel a few things needed to be said. The instructions are trash. But as you can see here, even a rookie like me can breeze through this. I do hope this review helps some of you out, or even sparks a fire under you to refuse to let these boats go unfinished. You can do this. So why am I giving such a cheap little kit a 4 star review? Well, I’m giving it a 4 star review based on what you are capable of doing with it. One star easily gets kicked as the company should really work on a few issues this kit does have. Nothing that can’t be worked around, but definitely adds more shaving and sanding time to the steps than should be needed. And the lack of instruction steps wouldn’t be so bad if the company just had better photos of the boats on the instruction steps. The pics they use look like copies of a copy from a newspaper article taken 40 yrs ago that was xeroxed off of a poloroid that somebody carried in there pocket through the trenches of Vietnam and smuggled home in the sole of a boot. Hahaha. But hey, you got this!

Model Boat
Instructions were not good. It was rather difficult to assemble.

Have patience with this one!
You get what you pay for... This is a cheap model boat and as so, don't expect good detail. I've built larger plank-on-frame ships with much more detail. I chose this as a quick-build TV tray project. The instruction, if you want to call them that, are short of awful! Just minimal drawings with no English verbiage! You need to study the drawings and the assembly steps... Even after that "Good Luck". I went back online to the Amazon site and printed out any photos of the kit I could find. Some of the parts are very tiny for lase-cutting/punch-out process. I had to custom build broken pieces. There are better brands of kits out there, but the cost will go up for quality, such as Occre, Deor Sailing ships, and Artesania Latina, usually starting at $125+. Happy ship building!

Time and patience. That's all you need
Oh yes I'm very satisfied with it. In fact, I'm ordering two more different boats to work on the next couple months and I'm looking forward
