NOT RECOMMENDEDPurchased and installed this pump as a replacement and it would not work properly during post-install testing. Called and spoke with representative from ShurFlo Customer Service/Technical department at (800)854-3218.Was informed Model 2088-422-144 is no longer produced and its direct replacement is Model 4088-101-E65. Asked specifically if the pump I purchased, and listed here (Model 2088-554-144), was acceptable. Answer was that while it will theoretically work, it is not recommended because it will cycle excessively and ultimately lead to early solenoid burnout/failure. Also without adding on a separate accumulator to the system, it may be impossible to adjust out excessive cycling for the pump to function properly. This was exactly the case during post install testing. I do not have an accumulator in my system nor have room to install one. Bottom line is this pump is NOT the direct replacement. Furthermore, it appears the pump I was sent by this vendor was a rebuilt unit at that. There was no ShurFlo packing materials, instructions or information with the pump. Just the pump with the date of "10-12-15" written with a sharpie marker below the ShurFlo label of the pump. To give the seller credit, they have indicated they will refund my purchase once they receive their pump back. The pump is currently in transit back to them so no refund has been received as of yet.

Will this pump run water for flushing a toilet and a shower? How could I set this up to be off grid using solar and battery and hose?

Yes, I’ve used this exact same pump for several years, hooked up to my 1200 gal water storage tank w/ 12v battery on a small solar PV panel w/ pump-outlet hooked to a hose bib. My tank gets used only when the spring-gravity-fed water pipes freeze-up/break and this pump & tank make it possible, easy actually, to continue staying up here w/ no worries. Pressure is perfectly fine for 2 toilets, 2 showers, 2 lavatories, 1 kitchen sink. I’m purchasing another of these pumps right now just to have “on-hand” for when this one eventually dies, as all pumps will do.
