UPDATE March 10, 2017I just received the new product and it appears to work just fine. I still don't think the placement of the USB port is a good idea because there really seems to be a lack of support for it. While it's sturdy enough that it shouldn't fall apart from normal use (at least it feels that way right now) I feel like it would break down sooner than if it had something holding it in place other than solder. They may have added more support but I haven't opened the case on the new one to check. Whether they have or not it still feels like it could be set up better. Nonetheless, I've raised my rating to 5 stars because Mamre really cares about getting a good product out to its customers and they seem to have fixed the previous issue.UPDATE March 08, 2017After writing my original review I received an email from the company stating a new batch of the product was being made that fixes the issue I listed below. They offered to send me a new one but since I already fixed mine I didn't think it was necessary so I didn't pursue that option. I received an email today from Amazon saying a new order for this product has shipped so it appears the company sent me one anyway. Their customer support seems to be great and they are really trying fix the problems with the first batch. I'm adding another star to this review simply because of their support. Once I receive the new one and test it out I'll add another update, hopefully with more stars.ORIGINALThe design of this product is really nice and my wife loves it. However, I am giving it two stars because of its cheap quality. Upon opening it I could already feel the components moving around inside. I plugged it in, taking note of the poorly mounted USB port, and everything seemed to work fine until I needed to move it. The next time I plugged it in the USB port fell inside the unit. Luckily my wife hadn't seen it yet so I looked around at how I could open it up and found two screws on the back. After removing them, it took a little force to open the unit and when it finally came loose a chunk of metal came flying out. This metal is apparently intended to be a weight although I'm not sure why it was put in there. The product is sturdy enough without it and if their goal was to make it simply feel heavier so it gives the illusion of greater value they should have at least made sure it fit snugly in its slot. This piece of metal is what I initially felt moving around inside that made the product feel cheaper. I looked around inside and discovered the USB port had completely fallen off the PCB (see img 1). Since I dabble with electronics I was able to successfully repair the board by soldering wires to the battery lead mounts (see img 2) and running them out the back of the unit to a DC barrel jack. I also had to re-solder the additional ground wire (used for making the LEDs brighter) back to the figurine of the people sitting in front of the moon as that broke when I opened the unit. I'm happy that it was a (somewhat) simple fix but the product should have been made right the first time.

My wife really loves this gift. It's very nice, with a real wood base cool glow and adjustable brightness. The two little people silhouettes add a nice touch. Two negatives points though: The power cord exits the side and is obvious. I understand it was simpler / less expensive to manufacture this way, but it would look so much better with the cord exiting the back. The second issue is that if you plug it into an automated switch (Alexa, Google or mechanical timer), it forgets it's last brightness setting and reverts to the full brightness setting. So if you want to use it as an automated night light, it will be a full brightness beacon. Note that if you use it's own power switch, it remembers the last brightness setting, but of course, you need to physically push that button to turn it on/off. I guess I could use a SwitchBot, but that adds >$60 with the hub.

Thought this would be a great gift for my girlfriend but why would it not come with a cord to plug it in!Had to go out and purchase a cord. Why would you sell a product that does come with what is needed or at least list it as not included!

Got this as a wedding gift. I added the stickers to personalize it, checked to see if it worked and it did. I loved it. They used it one time and it stopped working. But they did love it and still do. Just wish it worked

The product still has a plastic casing, would expect wood atleast for the huge difference in price, the light itself isn't very bright either regardless of the lighting mode, would not have minded paying the £30 ish price that the other versions are priced at but this is definitely not worth the money

I’ve bought this lamp as a gift. To my big disappointment Amazon put the sticker with my information plus another yellow sticker directly on the box from the lamp and even more, the box came halfway open, dirty and damaged. Honestly, it looks like it was sent to the moon and back. I’m absolutely amazed in a bad way! I often receive a ridiculously tiny item in a huge box full of paper to fill it up but for the first time such a not nice surprise. Plus there is no instructions in the box. I’ll have to print the description from here.The lamp itself is nice… but my joy from it was transformed to an issue how to fix the box, print the instruction and make the gift look nice. Would not buy again as a gift.

I absolutely loved this gift. I gave it to my parents for their anniversary. It comes with gold stickers that you can stick on the moon. I chose “We Still Do HAPPY ANNIVERSARY”. My parents loved it. My dad is very into dimmable touch sensor items (he has a world globe with the same functions) so he was very happy about this gift.
