An imaginative fun read, transported to another world with 83 yr old and his dog, it is so wild, great sci-fi!
The Universe Next Door: A Jake Corby Sci-Fi Thriller (Jake Corby Series Book 3) by Al Macy is an amazing sci-fi book! My gosh, I was so absorbed in this book, I loved it soooo much. Jake is having a get-together and his dog had been acting strange all that morning. During the get-together, as he is touching the hands of his 83 yr old grandmother-in-law, and his dog with his other hand, he is transported (with the two he is touching) into another world, another parallel world. It is so weird and exciting. They have to fight prehistoric creatures, live off the land with what they have, and they weren't the only ones transported from their worlds, it gets sooo friggin good! Great plot and strange characters, and weird creatures. I loved the "insane" bird like creatures, they had me laughing like crazy. Lots of action, suspense, adventure, tears, joy, thoughtfulness, intrigue, humor, and great sci-fi/fantasy. It is a must read...loved it! I won this book from Goodreads! I had read some of his books before and loved them so I was super happy when I won!

Fun adventure
Al Macy is someone you gotta be in the mood for. Which today I sort of was. He's very a enthusiastic and pretty funny writer and I think I've read either all of just about all of his books either as beta reader or the regular kind of reader. He has an admirable consistency, I've never loved any of his books, but never hated any either. They are all pretty much the same amount of fun. Although the first half of this one was significantly more fun than the second half, because Jake and Marie's adventures in prehistoric and the fascinating world he created were infinitely more entertaining than the subsequent quantum physics based time/space traveling and space fighting. Still, a fun, diverting tale and a quick read.

wow
A very nice read. But where did all this come from? No normal person has this much imagination, do they? Wow...The story was fast-paced, the plot well thought out, and the characters realistic. The science didn't strain credibility too badly; the author avoided the temptation to get lost in detailed explanations that would have distracted from the story (and probably contained things that would lessen the overall credibility). The vulgar language was a bit jarring, but notice the humans don't talk this way. It is just something that the main character taught the aliens while stuck in a long, boring, frustrating situation, for his own amusement. And the longer it went on, the harder it would be to undo. One does wonder why the aliens don't catch on, though.

Can't go wrong with Jake Corby!
Another wonderful Jake Corby adventure. Al Macy books always deliver well thought out story lines, complex characters and twists and turns that never fail to amuse. All in a light hearted, enjoyable style that I really like reading. This is another unexpected journey for the much traveled Jake Corby- this time accompanied by his dog and his Mother-in-Law!The book charges along in Macy's usual quick, quirky style with great dialogue and thought provoking scenarios. As with most of his work, I read "The Universe Next Door' in a couple of days. I just seem to get so wrapped up in these books that I binge read them.

Love this man!
I have decided that this is one of my favorite new series. Jake is someone you can easily accept and follow emotionally. You can understand him and those around him. Believable characters with a unique (but close to our own) world. Hope to be seeing more of this world soon. Enjoyed every page of each book of the series. I stayed up past 1 AM this morning reading The Universe Next Door, and still had to be up at 5 AM for work! Yep, it's one of those, folks! Enjoy!

I want to marry Jake Corby!! I love this book, and this seriesπ
Tingles, vibrations, then a parallel universe - WOW! A parallel universe where dinosaurs exist, sound like fun? NOT so much. Jake, once again, must save the world. This time he has to save the universe, and at such great sacrifices I cried (usually Jake makes me laugh). I can't tell you more without spoiling it, but I did write a nasty email to the author...I hate crying...he did not tell me 'it's going to be okay'. I can't tell you that either, you HAVE to read this book

Hilarious and exciting
Like all Macy's books, this one has a fast-moving plot and Wells developed characters. I'm glad he's so prolific! Great story!

Al Macy's enjoyable read
Thank you Al! I didn't think I would like it but I read it. Thanks for bring the characters back. A very enjoyable read. Thanks for allowing me to share this with my 5 year old as we listened to it in the car. I thoroughly loved how the story was developed and concluded. Hoping to read more from you in the future. Keep up the writing.

loved this. It is quite as crazy as it sounds, loads of weird things happening but great fun and a most enjoyable read. nice to come across Jake again (in both parallel universes) and the eighty-three year old grandmother is amazing and quite funny. I have read all the Jake Corby books to date and am looking forward to reading more from this author
