Operation Bedliner
Over two years in the making. Goal was to color match my rhino jeep. I wanted some practice first.(much of this review stems from questions I had in my research)Started mixing battle ship gray and smoke black, eventually adding insignia blue. Very close but not quite. Close enough. Ended up with 1 oz. each per bottle. I call it "Rhino123", 'cause that's about how many tries it took to get the color. Discovered the tint bottles are not consistent. The amount of pigment varies, so they have to be sorted accordingly or mixed together. I mix a batch in a clean liner bottle then use a 3 oz. cup to measure out for each bottle mixed.I've experimented with different levels of prep, scratch pads & sand paper.Over oxidation and prepped rust. So far it's been very forgiving and durable.Started with an old trailer tool box (spots of rust), intending to leave it out in the weather. Been two years, still looks good. Then the trailer, testing color and spray patterns. The grill and then a wheelbarrow to test textures. (just scuffed with scratch pads. oxidation and rust present on wheelbarrow) Why not a purple wheelbarrow?Clean seems to be more important than the level of abrasion. Used Custom ShopPanel prep, Grease and wax remover and acetone.Time to get down to business. Paint day! Took 12 bottles (grill & tailgate previously painted so 2 more bottles there). Three coats & good thickness, I'll take it. A coat consists of two passes overlapping, diagonally opposite. 100 psi at compressor, reg set at 50-55 psi, nozzle four turns out, 18" to 20" distance using included spray gun. Easy to spray. Took my time, no need to be in a rush. Five hours to spray jeep with a half hour lunch and an hour between coats. I also clean the spray gun between bottles. I let the liner cure for at least four days before exposing to direct sun or re-assembly that would put pressure on the liner(i.e. things bolted to it). The samples I pulled from the mask stayed rubbery for three days before starting to harden up. Still flexible, not brittle one month later.Yes, the spray gun is cheapo. My biggest issue is the trigger. There's a little pad that engages the air valve. It will start to slip to the side and form a groove. It gets to where it slips and binds up too often, throwing off your rhythm. If you get enough kits to spray a vehicle, you'll end up with enough spray guns. Once it starts slipping, it goes in the pile. Get another one. I had four ready to go. Wore out the first one, which still had purple on it, second is still good. They do work. Tried the $80 upol "professional" spray gun. It does make the grit pattern slightly less coarse than the regular one, adjustable to almost a matte paint look. I was surprised how the adjustment did make a noticeable difference (unlike the regular spray gun). It won't go as coarse as regular ones. You'll notice I didn't use it for this project.I let it cure for at least four days in the shade- 75 to 85 degree days. I think letting it get too hot, too soon leads to problems. Tested this on the wheelbarrow. It went into direct sun a few hours after spray. No shrink or peel so I don't know. The jeep stayed under cover for five days.Something to keep in mind: anything you take off to paint under won't fit the way it did before. This stuff is pretty thick. I got .021" total. My father, a professional automotive painter for 25 years, commented that in all his time he never checked his paint thickness with a micrometer. I think he may have been making fun of me.First day out- (painting done one week ago) well, it didn't fly off in big sheets going down the highway so that's good.Got a few scrapes from creosote brush, not one mark. Looked good before, looks better with some dust on it.Over a month now- has sat in direct sun all day in the parking lot at work, 90*+ temps. No shrinking or any wierdness. Could smell the volatiles for three weeks or so.I want to do another one. Coyote maybe. I want someone else to prep it, I don't ever want to do that again. lol. I'm eyeing my neighbor's YJ. Wonder if they'd notice...

Great product for diy bedlining
The custom coat is the same as raptor liner but less expensive. It’s easy to use and very durable. The only bad thing I can say is that the spray guns in these kits are very hit and miss in regards to quality and function. I have bought 3 of these kits and all 3 spray guns had different issues affecting performance, mostly involving the triggers. If you get a bad trigger, the only remedy is get a different spray gun. The only way I was able to continue my project was because I had 3 kits and was able to reuse the only gun of the 3 that would function.

Great Product Will Buy again
Looks fantastic and is very easy to apply. Took only a sec or two to get the right spray distance.

Very good product but paint gun not so much
The raptor itself was good and instructions were very simple. It would spray out awkward and needed gun cleaning frequently as product is so thick. The gun would get stuck to the lid and not very fun to take off after done using.Have a good compressor because it was a pain waiting to spray. Would advise a bigger compressor.Overall satisfied but requires A LOT of patience

Very easy to mix and roll-on
I'm still in the middle of the job, but I got an idea of how far this stuff goes. 1 Liter was able to do 1 1/2 coats of the front fender, and 2 doors but using somewhat thin coats. So make sure you buy plenty of it, it's expensive but honestly, it's worth it. For my 1992 4runner, I calculated that it's going to take about 7 to 8 liters for the entire car, I will have an extra bottle for touch-ups and extra coats on already lined areas. If you're looking for the mix ratio, it's the entire bottle of hardener into the big bottle, and the entire 3oz bottle of the dye of your choice into the big bottle. That's just for people like me who were confused and worried on how to mix it. It's super easy to mix, just pour 1 bottle of hardener and 1 bottle of the dye into the 1 liter bottle of the liner and shake it up.Spraying this stuff on would be more ideal if you are able to, but I don't have any decent place to spray so I opted for rolling it on and it works extremely well, but if you decide to roll it, only mix 1 liter at a time, it hardens fast. A downside to rolling is making the liner appear even across the whole car, but the coating is forgiving so it's fine in my eyes, it's designed to be rugged so it's no biggie

Need to be more clear!
Bought this kit and didn't realize until I mixed to start spraying that it didn't have color added so I HAD to order 6 bottles if color at 27 bucks each and lost ine bottle of product and hardner.

Get the 6 cans for a small truck bed
Good enough product and easy to use. The gun isnt the best quality. Ran out of product at the end and had to run to the store to get more. 4 cans is not enough for 1 full coat. Wish i had the 6 cans and would have been able to complete a thick 1st coat and a second thin coat
