Winco - SMT-2 6-Compartment Mess Tray, Style B, Stainless Steel, Medium

This seems to be just like the Real Deal , government-issued Mess Tray ... Mine is great! Very shiny, quality Stainless Steel and seems to be sturdy enough. I have seen people complaining about the quality ... did they expect it to be a Stamped-receiver AK? I'm not sure what the problem is but mine seems fine. It's fun for when I have solo meals by myself and can play a little Meal Imagination ... Highly recommended.

i really like these trays! i ordered a few and they are good quality, though as some reviewers have mentioned they are not super heavy duty. that being said they are sure strong as i would ever need, its not like i'm using them to eat bricks. the folded under edges do have some roughness but nothing on the ones i ordered would be sharp enough to cut a hand or anything. and remember the price alone is great. one thing i do notice is that with some foods a slightly metallic flavour gets into the food, mostly with acidic foods like tomatoes and such. it isn't too strong though. there may be some black marks on the metal which is just left over residue from buffing. they use a wax based polishing compound that turns black during use. it cleans off easy enough. anyways, awesome trays, i would buy them again with no reservations.

I got two of these trays because that’s what I used during most of my navy career. They are okay but much thinner than what I expected. The cost was a little higher than I expected it to be.

If you ever wanted to be reminded of your old Army or Prison days, this heavy duty tray is for you! Very solid stamping with good weight, just perfect for that spoonful of glop served by the sweaty guy in a greasy apron. These trays should stand up well for backyard BBQ, club meetings and camping, plus you can probably start an escape tunnel using one as a shovel (if you can get it past the toughest screw that ever turned a shift).Bottom line - good solid trays that are a little bigger than you'd expect. They'll do the job just fine.

I ordered these trays because we do fondue for supper and I needed a product that would let me separate the different food items so raw meat wouldn't touch the other food stuffs on the tray. I looked around at area stores but couldn't find anything I liked that met my needs and was reasonably priced. I wanted something durable, that had enough sections, wouldn't discolor or fade when washed and that were dishwasher safe and these really fit my needs perfectly. The compartments are separated nicely and everyone loved them! They are very sturdy and they washed beautifully in the dishwasher. Heavy enough not to slip and slide on the table but light enough to make them easy to carry when full. I kept the plastic tray covers that they came in so that they store and keep clean between uses. I don't have a lot of storage space in my kitchen and these fit nicely on top of the fridge, flat and out of sight. I would recommend these to anyone who needs a good, reasonably priced cafeteria tray. As always, Amazon came through!
