An old school RPG feel
I love this product I’ve been trying playing Ttrpg’s since I was seven. It’s very simple but fun you could literally play this for hours the combat is streamlined, character creation is simple, and everything you need as the Game master or player is in one book.

Old School Perfection
This is probably the best $5 I've spent in the 30+ years I've been gaming. I've never seen a more comprehensive, yet concise system. The rules are incredibly easy to follow/learn and the artwork is just THE BEST. This book hasn't left my bag since I've bought it. 11/10 essential for any collection.

Excellent book!
I received this book and once I picked it up I read through the whole book in one sitting. This will be one of my go to RPGs to run with new players.

Basic D&D at its most condensed
I remember the red boxed sets and the 1st edition AD&D manuals. So this is a nice trip down memory lane. I bought this as an add-on with some other RPG items I was purchasing. And I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down and read through it. There is nothing extra added to this, it is stripped down basic 70's and early 80's D&D. But what is nice about that is you can add whatever rules or such that you want to. Since starting my campaign with it, I have integrated things from Basic Fantasy, Dungeon Crawl Classics, The Black Hack, and various editions of TSR-era D&D. If you want that old school feel, it's like four bucks. Pick it up!

Amazing! A complete old school RPG in a compact form. Anyone who wants to try RPGs should get this. It is cheap, well written and has amazing artwork. Honestly, you could give this to a total novice and they would comprehend the rules in minutes. An enjoyable compact game that encourages you to add your own house rules (and you will). White Box. An RPG created when the world was young and bird and flower and tree was young and complexity was but a dream. The best product of the Old School Rules RPG movement. It is lovely to have you back, stronger than ever. Nothing is bad here. The rules are, of course, initial edition D&D (time of the free white books, hence the game's name). You know, HPs, wizards, thieves, fighters and clerics. AC, roll to hit, roll 1d6 (add mods) for damage. Go down dungeons, confront monsters and find treasure. Create a character in minutes and start playing. There will always be a market for a game like this. Also, the game is well laid out, concise beautifully presented with great artwork. One could say it is an improvement on the original . Well done Mason, Clarke and the artists. RPGs are fun again.

An amazingly cheap book for some OSR retro clone D&D fun.
Finally a nice paperback for a complete D&D system revised and compiled version the Old School Roleplaying (OSR) White box Swords and Wizardy. Pretty much a complete game is in the book. It is well edited revised rule set that is very playable and fast paced. It is orientated towards the DM making adjuctations and is rules lite with optional rules for the DM to pick from and orinetated towards picking their own favourite flavour of rules to use, such as saving throws being varied or unified for player characters and pushes the idea of home brewing rules as a DM. I love the fact it is nice to fit on a shelf and you can buy 6 copies of it for the price of 1 5e PHB. Another thing to note is players only need a D20 and D6's. Monster list, magic items provided for the DM and of course hirelings! A theatre of the mind rules lite rpg and seriously cheap. You can also grab free materials online at Drivethru rpg for it. Only criticism is no introductory adventure but tbh you should be pretty inspired and hyped to make your own and there are rather brief instructions on writing your own. At the price this one is easily a more accessible OSR titles. With the cheap price you're free to spend on pretzels and beer for the gaming table.

D&D the way your grandad had it
If the US court had not declared ‘game systems are universal property’ this product would be sued out of existence. As a lover of old-school pen& paper rpg’s which have been developed out of existence by the glossy growth and evolving expansion of the RPG industry, I was glad to see this product emerge. It fills a necessary niche, intentionally reminiscent of beloved times when game rules were photocopied or copied by hand, when imagination was 96% of the game, and affordable to school kids. The illustrations in this book are what makes it. Everything else - and I mean everything else - is lifted from D&D early editions. As far as ‘retro’ goes, this is the nail-on-the-head version of D&D the way your grandad had it.

Flawless condition. Great and simple old school system.
This product arrived quickly and in a flawless condition, without any dent whatsoever.Besides that, this is a great reorganization of the swords & wizardry white box version, which itself was a retroclone of the original Dungeons & Dragons. This system is simple, quick to pickup and very modifiable. What I am very fond of is that you can use it for very atmospheric and narrative-driven sessions, or you can simply use it as a dynamic, randomly generated, free-flow dungeon crawl session - and I love it!

A fantastic accessible 'rules' light RPG
I love to use White Box to introduce new players (young and old!) to tabletop RPGs. The book is beautifuly laid it with excellent consistent artwork through out. It's a great take on simple, rules light play that appeals to me as both a fan of the history of D&D (This game is based on the 1974 original edition of the game) and a GM who runs a lot of public open table games for new and old players from all backgrounds.
