Works as designed, heats quickly
Unit works as designed, gets VERY HOT VERY FAST. Nice features include an on/off switch so you don't have to unplug it each time, and there is a hook so it stays on the lip of the container. Heats up my 8 cup French press to a full boil in about 4 minutes, will heat up a single cup in under a minute. It SHOULD go without saying (but based on some negative reviews it apparently NEEDS to be said) don't use in a paper or plastic container as this unit gets VERY HOT. After turned off it also cools relatively quickly. Use reasonable care and judgement and this unit will get the job done.

Exactly what I wanted
This is not for your coffee or tea mug. This is not for sous vide cooking. (No temp control, just an on/off switch.) But it took 28 ounces of 60 degree water and boosted it to 105 degrees in 51 seconds. It took 11 minutes to take 1 gallon of 60 degree water to boiling. Pay attention to the minimum/maximum levels and never leave it unattended and you're good to go. Had it one day. Hopefully it should last.

Broke after less than 10 uses
Initially I loved this coil. It was very portable, got the water boiling within a couple of minutes, and was really easy to use: just put the coil in the water and plug it in, then unplug and be very careful taking it out of the water. However, I have used it less than 10 times, and then it suddenly just stopped working. No idea why.

"That's what she said."
It's really big. Actually huge....I had read some reviews prior to purchase so I knew it wasn't for sticking into a dainty teacup but I didn't realize I couldn't even use it in an average size travel mug. Not if you follow directions anyway. It says to fill water between the two marks on the apparatus. Well, that's what I did and the water in my large steel travel mug boiled up and out all over my kitchen counter. I dove for the off button (ON is the straight line, OFF is the O) as I tried to avoid getting scalded. Not a pretty sight. As I have purchased this intending to use it for van camping I'm nervous to use it inside my small space and imagine having to drive myself to a burn unit at the closest hospital. Btw, the water in my large mug came to a roaring boil in only about 45 seconds!!! Lesson to self: Either buy a huge thermos soley dedicated to boiling with this huge tool OR ignore the rules and fill the water line to something much safer.FOUR STARS: Definitely does what it's supposed to do. Taking a star off for $16 price point (it's worth $10 or less) as well as incorrect instructions on proper water level/cup size to use. Could end up hurting someone very badly. Lastly, I wish it cooled off more quickly but that's asking a lot.

Smart little water heating Instrument
This is a very good product. Its like the the car that gets you from point A to point B safe and sound every day but its blue book dollar price is practically nothing. I use it every day of the week. (2 to three times a day, every day). No days off for this handy heating device. Using it with the Yelocota 27oz. Flask (because this flask has a wide top and body so that the heating instrument fits inside) it heats the water filled container in less than 2 minutes. Heating means Very Hot. Dangerously Hot. Cause seroius burns Hot. That said, and I wish not to detract from this company's sale opportunities but, I would not recommend this device to be used by children. It is also not best suited to irresponsible people, of any age. The instructions Must be followed every time this instrument is used / handled. Also, common sense exercised in storage.

No safety
As I opened it I was looking at instructions and plugged it in and set it down next to the tub of water.I didn't realize the switch had been hit on during delivery or opening package. But it is an open switch that can be flipped very easily. After all, I plugged it in, it scorched my counter and I never got to use it because the power switch is so exposed. It'd also be nice to have a cage on the iron so it doesn't melt the side of the bucket or tub when resting on the hook it has.

a tad smaller than I expected and was disappointed it can't heat a bathtub like described.
Wouldn't have purchased if I'd known it wasn't rated to heat a bathtub's worth of water. Was a lot smaller than I'd expected. For the money? I think I could have gotten a bit better. All in all, I would say, it does it's job well enough I guess. Don't expect it to heat up a large amount of water because it will not do so in a timely manner. The cord gets extremely hot too, so make sure to watch it cause I. Believe it could pose a major fire hazard. I will follow up upon further use if that is a true statement or not. For now I believe, 3 out of 5 is a very generous rating cause I could easily say 2 out of 5.

This boils 3 cups of water in 1minute 45seconds.
The heating element for this fairly wide. It fits inside only in my largest mouth thermos (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZQT0JC/). I am surprised by how fast it boils water. There's a switch on the power cable. This allows you to turn it off without having to pull the plug out of the wall, which makes it superior to many other immersion heaters in that regard. As with other immersion heaters, if you run it dry then it will immediately break, and you'll blame the manufacturer for your own failure to operate it correctly. These are not devices for careless people to use. I like it.
