Your GTO needs this!
I would give this 6 stars if I could. I am seriously impressed. I scoffed at reports of improved driveability, but it's really there. It's worth every penny!I bought it because I started getting the "bowling ball in the trunk" sensation of a failing center bearing carrier, and I figured I would eliminate some weight and a repeat failure in the future. I was pleasantly surprised at the driving improvement. One of my favorite moves is to make a right turn and hit the gas. On the stock shaft with the traction control on, if I wasn't careful the tires would break loose and the engine would just about shut down. With TC off, the rear end was in danger of breaking all the way loose and sliding sideways. The other day, I was able to do this and CONTROL it with the throttle for the first time since owning this car. After researching installation, I decided to pay a local mechanic to install it. The exhaust is under the driveshaft and must be dropped to replace the shaft. The exhaust may also need to be adjusted not to touch the shaft. If you had a lift or a way to raise the entire car sufficiently I don't think it would be difficult. Also, the passenger side bolt in the rear seat belt center mount must be shortened about 3/8". It's easy to remove the seat bottom by pulling the plastic handles under the front edge. Then you can remove the bolt and either cut it shorter or install a shorter bolt. The original is a grade 5 1" x 7/16-20 SAE thread (this is correct, they are NOT metric). The bottom 1/4" is unthreaded so I don't recommend shimming it up with washers. No need messing with the driver side bolt; the shaft rides in the right-hand side of the tunnel, so the left-hand stock bolt is completely clear of it.

Great replacement. Better than OEM by far.
Super easy to install. It comes with a new set of bolts, you just need a 10mm allen wrench to install. The hardest part was taking all of the OEM parts out of the car. I was amazed at how complicated Pontiac made the simple task of transferring power from the transmission to the differential. I found that not only was my carrier bearing rubber cushion gone, but the rubber flexible couplings at both ends of the drive shaft were badly cracked and on the verge of failing. Once all of the OEM parts were out of the way I had to pull all of the exhaust hangers to gain enough room to install the new larger shaft. Make sure to shorten the seat belt bolt. Once installed, the bumping noise (carrier bearing) that I've had for about a year are gone and the car runs better than ever. Power transfer is immediate.

Best upgrade, couldn't be any happier!
Installed on my 2006 gto, the car is night and day difference. One of the biggest improvements I made on the car. The transfer of power to the rear feels crisp and instant. It wasn't that hard to install it, although it would be nice if the supplied hardware had some instructions to the order of bolt, waaher, and nut placement. Not a biggy as I did it and it's been solid for the last six months. WELL worth it!

Excelent product and the seller is outstanding
I recently got in touch with the seller to acquire about this driveshaft shop product, and not only was I amazed by their customer service, but about their pricing on this driveshaft as well. The moment I called, Steve from NightMotorSport was very customer friendly and very precise, to the point. I ended up getting the best/lowest price offered online anywhere. I even called driveshaft shop themselves before I called night motor sport, and they couldn't get better pricing, in fact, driveshaft shop advised me to contact one of their vendors for better pricing. So, for those of you shopping for one of these, give night motor sport a call before you call anyone else. Also, I tried to work out a deal with few of the Ls1gto forum vendors and none could come close to these guys, and some were very rude too along with the forum moderators. The wait time was minimal, I was told it would take 2-3 weeks as it was built to order directly from the driveshaftshop, but I had the driveshaft in my hands within 8 days. I was amazed how fast that was, and the blue flange direct fit with the black yoke, a new version that is much stronger than previous one, looks amazing. A bit lighter compared to stock, and it is much easier to install and take off due to its weight and less joints and no rubber bushings. I had this driveshaft shop 1000 hp shaft on my car for a few weeks now, and the driveshaft is smooth and pleasure to drive with. I had no issues whatsoever with install or the product this far, and I hope that this will be the case for a long time as the product fit and finish seem excellent and outstanding. I will update this review with any changes that come up, in other words, if the shaft starts to give me issues. So, one more time a big thanks goes to Night motor Sports for hooking me up with a great product, for their outstanding customer service, and a fast delivery.
