As a beginner “artist” I like this journal. As noted in other reviews, I would agree it is good for sketching, pencil, ink medium. Even light watercolor wash crinkles the paper. The removal/reusable cover is a great idea.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend who loves to draw and she loves it!The cover is absolutely gorgeous and looks like a real painting! The canvas look binding is pretty but also wipes clean quickly if pencil dust or eraser bits get onto it. The interior pages are a nice, thick, creamy colored paper which look very rich and make sketches stand out beautifully. The wire binding means that the pages lay nice and flat and are easy to work on.Overall, this is a lovely sketchbook to give as a gift or keep for yourself. It’s attractive, sturdy, and easy to use and I definitely highly recommend it.

I enjoy collecting beautiful notebook. And this sketch book definitely is one of my favorite. It's cover image comes from Van Gogh's The Starry Night which I like so much. The texture of the hardcover also makes me feel very surprised. It uses knitting techniques. And inside of the book, they also use high-quality papers. It's a wonderful purchase overall. Highly recommend!!!!

I was expecting a one time use book with a novelty printed cover.This is so much nicer in person! The cover is actually woven material, and very sturdy! It’s removable too so when you use up this sketch book you can insert another one. A+

The cover is fairly durable and is like a book jacket with the edges sewn together. It can be removed and placed on a replacement journal for continued enjoyment. Notebook that comes with is a nice heavy paper, perfect for free form journaling and expression.

I'm a Waldorf teacher and am using these for our 1st grade main lesson books. They are quality books, beautiful and quite well made. A bargain for the price!

The cream colored paper in this journal is nice to sketch on. The paper is not very thick but it didn't bleed through using a fountain pen with fine nib. I purchased this thinking it would be nice to have a jacket cover that I could replace the spiral pad with another when it has been used up. The problem with the cover is that once it has been opened flat, the pad moves in the jacket in such a way that when you try to close it won't close without rearranging the pad. That's annoying, but my biggest issue with the jacket is that the woven part of the cover does not feel good to touch. It's scratchy and unpleasant. A sketchbook or journal should feel good in the hand. The vinyl artwork area of the cover feels much better and if the whole jacket was made of that material I would give it 4 stars and only subtract 1 star for having to rearrange the pad everytime I close it. Maybe a different pad would fit this better.
