I was skeptical of these, but after trying them, am a big fan. They have a very snug fit so they're effective, and I find that using patches at first and then these on the final pass of cleaning the barrel is their most utilitarian use. I use a very small amount of J&B cleaning compound on the swab for my final pass after a patch appears to run clean, and this swab removes that last bit of residue.Also, you can actually use a little Brakleen or some dishwashing liquid to remove the residue and get a second use out of them. I sometimes just let a few of them soak in some hot soapy water for a few minutes, press them with a paper towel and let them dry overnight. While they won't come "totally clean," they will shed enough of the residue to be capable of a second use.I have nice pistols and am very "persnickety" about cleaning them thoroughly after each use, and this product is now an integral part of that regimen.

This product adds to the ease of thorough cleaning. Maintaining the barrel is essential to longevity and accuracy of your firearm. Highly recommend and have been using this product for years.

I have been using them for a few years for all calibers of pistols and revolvers (barrel and chambers). Most of the time they do a great job for cleaning (with cleaning solution) and oiling. Occasionally I get a swab which seems slightly undersized in diameter and I have to put a small cleaning patch over it. I wish they would add 32 caliber swabs to their product line, there’s a gap for that diameter.

Did as advertised. Bit costly.
