Merritt International Melamine Glazed Brown Swirl Round Dinner Plate 11"

I ordered this plate in anticipation of ordering a whole set, just to make sure the actual product was as it appears in the photo. It wasn’t. The colors in the webpage photo look to be a brown swirl with a lovely amount of turquoise blue mixed in. In reality, there is very little blue. The plates are several shades of brown and beige. If I had purchased stoneware or ceramic, I might expect variations in color from one piece to the next, but since these are melamine and the colors are stamped out, every other plate will probably be the same. This looks quite different from what I thought I was ordering.The plate is a thick melamine which looks more like stoneware than melamine. It definitely doesn’t have the look of a cheap plastic plate. Heavy melamine dinnerware can be hard to find. It’s lighter than stoneware and much more break and chip resistant, which is why I’ve been replacing many of our everyday indoor dishes to melamine, to avoid dishes with chipped edges. It’s dishwasher safe, but no melamine can go in the microwave.I won’t return this since the seller charges a 10 - 20% restocking fee. But I really wish the product would have been as pictured. I’m attaching some photos so you can see for yourself.

These plates look like stoneware but they are lightweight, they shine, and they won't break when you have them on stone, granite, etc. They suggest not to wash them in the dishwasher which would make them even more wonderful, but they do clean up very easily and the shine stays on them.

Don't waste your money on these.
