It is worth it!
Love this! I call it my hospital grade or my industrial grade air purifier. It works very well. You can barely hear it on the low setting. You can hear it on the high setting. Either way I am confident even on the low setting that it’s the best air purifier around. I have this in my basement and plan on getting the smaller ones for each of my bedrooms in my home. It is worth the price!

Great air filtration!
I’ve been reacting to normal amounts of environmental mold with a lot of inflammation and brain fog. Since I purchased this air purifier to run in my home office, I’ve been sleeping better, my inflammatory markers are slowly coming down and the brain fog is lifting. The low setting is fairly quiet, not that different from a fan on low speed and it does notinterfere with video calls. The high setting is very noisy and I cannot run the high speed setting if I have calls planned. This air purifier did a great job of eliminating the smell in our home after some repairs that required indoor welding that was very fumey.

An Amazing Tool
Great air filter. Had one for twenty-one years and never had a problem. Clean once a year and change filter every five years. Not sure of recommendations but that worked for me. Bought a new 400 in white. Also have a 200 in the bedroom I've had for 17 years. The old 400 in black still works fine.

Very short lasting and expensive filter
I have lived with MCS and as a result, live in a home very well taken care of with as little VOC, and scented products as possible.I purchased two new healthmates running simultaneously in adjoined rooms where they ran for four months. One filter began smelling like sweet rotten maple syrup after that short time. Contacted customer support and despite claims of filters lasting up to five years, I was told they need to buy a new filter! These are very expensive. They tried to blame the issue on my home despite my evidence to the contrary. Read different reviews. This happens frequently. Dirty units arrive for people and customer service at Austin Air talk down to you instead of listen. Very disappointing to have invested in a company I wanted to trust.

absolute necessity to clean indoor air
In Minnesota we get winds that bring in PM 2.5 and PM 10 particles from fires in the north, west and south. Air pollution adversely affects our health even increasing risk of glaucoma. For my 2200 sq ft apartment I got 3 purifiers that really work well even if I cook and pollution is bad outside. Might add a 4th one. Vacuuming once a month means that no new filters needed for 4-5 years.

Not even removing the mild litter box smell from the air
I did a bunch of product research prior to purchasing the Austin Air Healthmate Plus product. I looked at their competitors — AirDoctor and IQ Air — as well as calling/emailing Austin Air support and asking lots of questions. I also watched a bunch of YouTube videos and visited everyone’s websites. I thought I had made a good purchase choice.Unfortunately, now, about two months after purchasing, I’m having buyer’s remorse. This is not a product I’d typically buy (and certainly not at this price point.) However, between wild fire smoke and the paint, flooring, furniture off-gassing all their chemicals, I felt it would probably be a wise investment for now and later. That said, I honestly I have had no idea if it’s even been working. In fact, I have been hesitant to recommend it to family and friends because I haven’t known if it’s a good choice or not. However, I just got clarity on how good it is today. This week I rescued a kitten, and I’m noticing that the smell of the litter box (which is being changed daily) sort of lingers in the air. (Maybe it’s because it’s humid or something. Maybe that makes the smell last longer.) In any case, I thought I’d give the Austin Air filter a whirl and turned it on in the small room where the litter box sits. Ah, ya, nothing, folks. The smell hasn’t changed one bit, and it’s been a couple of hours. Weird, huh. For spending almost $1000 on an air filter, you’d think it would at least clean the smell of litter out of the air, right. Aargh.

Clean Air
The unit is very well built & good looking.Does a good job with odors.Very quiet on low speed, acceptable on medium and quite loud on high speed.Like the fact of not changing filters routinely & made in USA.

Definitely pricy but seems to do a great job
There is no doubt that there are considerably less expensive air cleaners. For most people, I would expect them to be adequate. I needed one that would do the maximum job of cleaning the air. It needed to support a girlfriend with real breathing problems that were being aggravated by the particulate matter in the air. There has been a very noticeable improvement in her ease of breathing. As far as it being overkill for many, in my own home I have a couple of air cleaners that cost around $200 each and I experience no problems with particulate matter.
