Functional, lightweight, and totally cute!
I got this today. Opened it and put it together as per the video. As advertised. Goes together easily, the band is strong enough to hold extra brushes, 2 water cups, 12 half pans. Many mixing wells. Lightweight, as small as a cell phone and easily packed. As advertised. I can't wait to go on my next trip!

One of my favorite art supplies EVER!
One of the most brilliant art supplies in my bag! Not sure of what I did before I owned this thing, but I sure am happy that I’ve been enjoying this one for several months now.I love the attention to detail with the rubber band thing that holds the piece used to keep everything closed and together. That piece loosens some over time, but when the rubber band piece is put directly under it in storage, it holds the clip piece perfectly in place. So it not only holds it to keep it from getting lost while the palette is in use, but it also keeps it secure in travel. The size of this is probably my favorite thing about it. If I’m mixing bigger washes I do find that I need a bigger mixing area, but I just bought a cheap, larger flat rectangular one to keep in my art bag for those bigger projects, & it works perfectly while still cutting down on extra bulk as I tote my art supplies around town. This palette’s size and functionality are perfect, & I still get this goofy smile on my face every time I pull it out to use it and think again about how much easier it’s made portable painting for me. I don’t think it could have been planned out any better!I also like to paint in bed in the evenings under a daylight bulb as I’m winding down, and this makes even that process easier and more compact in the space I’m taking up next to me in bed. If I’m too lazy to get up and dump the water out because I’m falling asleep, I can just put it on the nightstand to be tossed in the morning without having to concern myself over water rings that might have been left by my standard ball jar that I’ve usually used for water. I keep hoping one of my kids or one of my nieces and nephews will take up watercolor so that I can be the cool mom/aunt to gift them with something as nifty as this! Kudos to its creators. It really is something special!

A terrific little pallet, especially for travel or those who need to save space
This is small but mighty. It comes apart and sets up easily, giving you water cups on each side that act as “legs” to support the middle. Really makes it handy to take watercolor, gauche or other mediums with you almost anywhere and cleans up well.

Compact and Useful
This is a perfect tiny kit that can rest across your knee. Would make a wonderful gift for a water color artist, especially if they like to paint on the go. Pallet is empty to fill with your own tube watercolor.

Thoughtfully designed and handy for travel - with caveats
The Portable Painter watercolor palette is a great design but is NOT one-size-fits-all if you intend to balance it on your leg. It is thoughtfully designed to set on a flat surface or wear on a seated thigh--if your leg is wide enough. Mine isn't, so the palette isn't very stable when used that way. Unless set on a flat surface, both cups must hold water to balance the unit. The handy 2-literally-IN-1 brush offers two size options. I like the fine point on both, but neither carries a very full load of either water or paint in the synthetic bristles. I would like an option of a fuller-bodied flat in the larger size, paired with the smaller, fine-pointed round. The half-pans are a convenient, compact size and are interchangeable with Cotman/Winsor-Newton half-pans. But as others have pointed out, they are not easy to remove from the base box, which, though it keeps them in place, makes them difficult to swap out or clean to replace a color. Both the paint wells and the lapped mixing wells must be dry before you close up the box to prevent creating a multicolored mess. And you can tip the palette if you mix too vigorously on the folded out mixing wings.I have adapted mine by switching out the brush(es) for a slightly more thirsty travel brush than those provided, or a supplemental brush can be tucked under the plastic band that encircles the kit (intended to help you keep track of the metal slide that holds the kit together when not in use)--the band can be wrapped around one of the water-cup legs when the palette is being used. I also use four of the small inner mixing wells to hold extra colors beyond the intended dozen, and in the wider one in the center, I fastened a bit of sponge to absorb excess moisture from my brush as needed.

Did not disappoint
I’ve been wanting one of these for so long but i had to wait a few years for a spare 40 bucks. Finally splurged and i use it for en plain aire painting with gouache LOVE the all in one function and smallness of palette but it could be smaller or thinner. Glad i got this and you will be too!

nice
I loved using this portable painter pallet. It is so dang easy now, cause its compact and since it's less cleanup, it makes me want to practice more and learn more. Its amazing. Cant wait till it warms up to also test it on the go.
