Ants love to eat it!

does as expected
While I have a service handle pest control around my house, I don't want them anywhere near my hives (nor, do they want to be). But, that doesn't mean I won't ask what they are using! They routinely lay a barrier out from the house and told me it was Niban and was used primarily for cockroaches, but also, ants and other crawling insects. I had an ant and cockroach problem around my hives, so I grabbed some of this to see if it worked. And, it does - to a pretty good degree. The granular product is ignored by the bees, so there is no fear of poisoning the hive. The insects take the bait back to the nest and feeds to others - killing the nest is the desired outcome. In my case, it kept the pests under control, but wasn't perfect. I believe that is because the food source (i.e. sugar water) is within the perimeter, so I am not sure too much bait was being transported back to the nest. But, the numbers of pests dropped to a manageable level, so I was happy enough to reorder a bulk bag this year.I rate it as a good buy.

Works on snails
This is the only thing that remedied a snail infestation impacting multiple groundcover plants and hostas. After large areas of groundcover turned grey & died, I tried multiple insecticides and fungicides until I got eye level with the plants and saw snails actively feeding on them. Store bought molluscicides did not work at all and additional plant watering/rain made the issue worse.Within one week of applying Niban, I began to see dried snail shells and my plants are beginning to rebound. I sprinkled the granules lightly and now I reapply every 3 weeks.

Zero results - completely ineffective
For many reasons that I won't list here, we have an extraordinary number of ants around our home, and I’m on ant duty year-round in our climate. We have a variety of ant species, except (thank goodness) for fire ants. This has become a personal mission that led me to learn a lot about ants and deterrents, especially nontoxic products and home remedies that will not harm our pets or wildlife. I bought the large bag of Niban granular bait and applied the product as directed to the letter. I’ve been patient and monitored the ants’ behavior, with the understanding that baits can take a long time to work, and ant activity often increases before seeing results. Weeks later, the product is clearly visible and has not been washed away by rain, yet we have more ants than ever. They appear to be attracted to it, as evidenced by the explosion of ants in the area, but they are not carrying the bait away or decreasing in number over time. They are literally walking right over it on their way to our home. Again, these are different varieties of black ants, all apparently disinterested in "taking the bait". This product has a 4.2-star average rating, so it must work for some users, but there are quite a few 1-star reviews by people for whom this bait did not work; perhaps there are differences in response based on species or region. For us, the search for an effective outdoor ant bait that won’t harm animals continues.

Wouldn't do a service without it
I have always made use of this for my pest control business to keep exterior pests under control especially between quarterly services. I can definitely tell the difference when this isn't used.

It’s ok, but not awesome.
We had an exterminator come to our home last year and they used the Niban granular to put around our yard and home. Because it worked last year, we thought we’d see if we could find this product online and put it down ourselves. The exterminator had used 1 four pound container. So far this season we have put 6 four pound containers down around our home and yard, and we are still having problems with ants.I don’t know if the exterminator company uses a stronger formula and that’s why it worked, but we’re just a little disappointed. I have spent all that money on all those containers and still having problems. Although now it’s just about the cost that we paid the exterminator!
