We use wheat bran to help with roughage and find this works great for us.

Much Better than Store Bought Cereal
I've been buying supermarket Bran cereal for years. I had to switch from one to another because I noticed the one I had had aspartame. The new one has sugar added that I don't want. I finally found the product that has only what I want: wheat bran. In addition, it's organic! It's also very economical. I mix the bran with my other cereals and top it off with a sweetner like "Just Like Sugar".

Ever since a family member got fissures, her gastroenterologist suggested this to her and I’ve been taking it as well, he is adamant that if everyone took this there would be a huge decrease in colon cancer. I am no doctor but I drink this every morning in a shaker bottle, lukewarm is my preference because it goes down smoother, the taste is pretty much saw dust but my gut health has improved so much and has made such a difference!

All seems spot on (taste, health benefits, etc.) except the texture. I like my wheat bran large and coarse so it doesn't

MASSIVE QUANTITY, AND YOU WANT ORGANIC WHEAT
Since wheat is a heavily-sprayed crop, I always opt for organic. Trader Joe’s stopped carrying my husband’s breakfast muffins, which had a lot of fiber, so I decided to try making them. It is quick and easy, and the plus is I use all organic ingredients (the TJ muffins were not organic, but hubby wanted them). I have a 12 muffin tin and a 6 muffin tin, so I get almost 3 weeks worth each time, and freeze them, and he removes one every night before bed to thaw for the next morning. I am very pleased with this huge quantity of organic bran that I keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator. It will last a long time even though I use it regularly.
