Vacuum with power...
VAX U85-AS-Pe Air Stretch Pet Multi-Function Vacuum Cleaner is an excellent vacuum cleaner and one I am happy to recommend. First of all I had the older model of this Vacuum and when it finally died a death after a lot of work I hasten to add, I knew which model I wanted as I knew it was a vacuum cleaner which works and works well. I have two very fluffy dogs and they do shed their hair quite a bit, therefore, a hoover which is especially enabled for pet hair was one of the functions on my list and the VAX U85 is one which certainly did not let me down in any way. I immediately could see how it lifted the long hair from my carpet with ease and without any hesitation. I love how it has a slider which allows you to change from hard floor/ short pile carpets or deep pile carpets and when you change from the hard floor/short pile to the deep pile or the going from deep pile to the hard floor option, it is immediately noticed in the hoover as it is so much easier to use when it is on the deeper pile carpet option. The hard floor option means the actual head of the vacuum is adjusted so that it is nearer the floor and this is clearly noticed by the grip of the hoover. I love the fact that Vax has listened to their customers and provided a longer cable, therefore no more me having to hoover a bit of the floor then constant changing plug sockets to get the all the floors cleaned. I can happily plug it in one room and go from room to room and the hoover reaches easily without any tugging of the lead. Though I would recommend you only loosen the lead as you need it as it is very easy to trip over it when you are busy cleaning, as I have already tripped over it a couple of times. Also if an old person or child is in the house, caution would need to be taken with the lead as it is very long. Vax has also added an extra hose extension which is another huge plus as no more having to hold the hoover up to allow the hose to reach up high or behind something. The longer cable and longer hose extension is a great advantage to this model of Vacuum cleaner. Vax has also provided extra cleaning tools which are so useful to have plus the three smaller extensions fit neatly within each other, plus they have their own connector on the Hoover which means they can be found conveniently when needed. The VAX U85-As Pe Air Stretch Pet Multi function Vacuum Cleaner is one excellent cleaner which already I am in love with as it just simply works and works well providing me with great cleaning power within one very easy to operate and light weight Vacuum. Happy to recommend. As always I will update my review as time goes on.

so far seems to tick a lot of boxes
Purchased this hoover to replace a much more expensive one that after replacing numerous parts over the years (under guarantee ) now that it has run out I found the parts to to be very expensive, hence looking at a different model with a good write up........ well so far I must say its the first time I have found a hoover with such a long electrical cord, I can hoover the complete big bungalow without keep plugging in the hoover in nearly every room! its good for my needs for hard floors and carpets , it eats up all the delights incurred when owning a dirty Spaniel , the suction is very good it easy to change from hard floor to carpet, the dirt container is a decent size .........the not so good bits are - the hose system is a bit of a faff but as I don't have stairs this is not a real problem - the hoover does not look or feel very robust - the plastic is slightly lightweight and almost feeble looking, BUT having said that the price is so very good for what you do get - so its not actually a complaint more of an observation. The ordering was easy and delivery was very quick and Item was packed in its own box very well. I live in an area where there are no shops within a three hour drive where such items can be purchased so Amazon is my best friend and has come up trumps again !

Vax Air Stretch Upright Vacuum Cleaner U85-AS-Be
I picked up the VAX U85-AS-Be for my nan, as she was finding the canister type vacuum she was using too heavy too and arkward to carry up and down the stairs. I picked this model as it seemed to be one of the lightest weight ones that i could find (she could have had a much lighter one if she went for cordless, but didn't want one). The cleaner has very good suction power - far more than the old VAX I used to have and works well, although i do find it quite fussy to use the attachments. If you want to use the want, you first have to remove the pipe that clips to the brush head, attach the extension hose and then the wand. Having said that, the hose is a decent length, as is the mains cable which is long enough to plug in at the bottom of the stairs and vacuum all the way to the top. My nans house is fully carpeted and she has a cat. The U85-AS-Be has no problem picking them up. It does have a hard floor setting, but this hasn't been tested. All in all, i think this is a pretty good product and for the price it offers reasonable value for money and my nan has no problem with the weight of it, which was the main thing. Having said that, i'm not sure i personally would be able to live with the fussiness of the attachments, especially since getting a Shark model.

Versatile vacuum
Great vacuum, we bought this vax because how light it is to carry up the stairs. It’s reasonably quiet in operation, easily manoeuvred around the room with great pick up. You can easily see what the vax picks up by looking at the clear container.

Best vacuum if you have animals! Well worth it for the price.

As a pet owner (2 German Shepherds) Vacuum cleaners are important. I spent years buying standard vacuums. Every 18 months, they would by then be clogged with hair, lose suction and be useless. In 2019 I bought my first Shark Vacuum, game changer. It lasted 6 years. While the suction from the motor is still good, my Shark vacuum hoses have split and cracked and have been endlessly duct taped only for new cracks to appear. I couldn't source replacement hoses anywhere. A few weeks ago I was about to hit "Buy Now" on another new Shark for over €220 , when I saw this Vax Air Stretch Pet Max. I have been using it for over a month now - so here's my thoughts. PROS: Suction is actually better than the Shark. Like the Shark it has a rotating brush for carpets but the suction is far stronger than the Shark. Especially on hard floors. 13 Metre Power Cord - this is extremely handy as it means less plugging/unplugging to vacuum around the house. I used to use a 5m extension cord on my Shark. The filter is easier to clean, it has a removable foam filter like the shark, but the plastic main filter can also be removed for easy cleaning. Price, obviously the Vax is less than half the price of most Sharks. This is where the good points end!!!!! CONS: While the suction is stronger, the slide for controlling suction is at the very bottom of the hoover, meaning you have to continuously bend down to adjust it if going from carpet to hard floors to rugs. Also the slide is very stiff. The Shark has the suction control slide near the handle - which is much more convenient. The rotating brush cannot be easily removed like the shark. This brush regularly gets hair, or string wrapped around it. You have to cut it with a scissors. If you want to remove the brush you have to first remove 3 screws on the side. It is a 15 minute task that takes less than a minute with the Shark. It has no LED lights like the Shark, so you cannot see the dirt or hair on the floor in front of you. The small wheels at the bottom are already clogged with hair that is impossible to remove, I had to use a stanley blade to cut it away. The biggest drawback is with the Shark if you want to hoover corners near the ceiling or corners near the floor you simply press a button and remove the wand. With the Vax you have to switch it off, press a button to remove the wand, then detach the suction hose from the bottom of the hoover and attach it to the extra provided suction hose on the wand. This is by far the most annoying feature. It makes hoovering take a lot longer. It means you have to hoover the whole area, then use the wand afterwards to do the corners, otherwise you will be constantly attaching and detaching the hoses . The Vax hoover does not swivel or rotate like the shark. Making it a lot less manuverable. This is another huge drawback, it literally only hoovers in straight lines. The volume of the dirt bin is only 1.5 litres, my Shark was about 3 or 4 litres, so requires emptying more often. And it does not click & seal into place like the shark. I seriously doubt the plastic clips for attaching wand suction hose, and attaching multi tools will last. The plastic seems very weak and flimsy. Also the motor heats up to a very high temperature after just using it for a few minutes (very worrying) VERDICT: If you already own a Shark and are thinking of buying this Vax - don't. The differences are too many and will annoy you, and you will wish you paid the extra for the Shark. If you never owned a Shark and want a cheaper Vacuum then buy this. I think within 12 months Ill be dealing with broken plastic clips (mentioned in other reviews) and will just end up replacing this with a Shark. I have serious buyers remorse. I WISH I JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER SHARK HOOVER.

An amazingly complicated brush bar mechanism that seems to have been designed by a 3 year old. Instead of being simply able to slide the bar out for cleaning from the *opposite side* of the belt drive mech, like in a Dyson cordless I have, the belt and its associated parts have to be removed and disassembled from the drive side first. To put the bar back in, you have to reassemble the retaining parts and then line it all up at one end with a shallow square recess whilst holding the other bits in place at the opposite end. Also the removable "wand" is too short and should have been designed to extend. The whole "stretch" description is a bit of a stretch, bar the long cable. Very unimpressed with the whole thing and would not recommend.
