Beginner: I’m not a self tanning pro! Over the years, I’ve tried different at-home self tanners, but this was the first foam product I’ve used, and it was by far the easiest to apply. I use gloves under the mitt until I need to tan my hands. I typically cover my nails with lotion or something I can easily wipe off so they do not become discolored. After splitting the tanner I will use a damp washcloth to wipe the top and underneath my (grooved arthritis) nails and my cuticles. Nothing stained, and my tan was overall even!Smell: To my surprise, this product smelled decent during the application, and when the tanner began to set, the scent was bearably faint. In my personal experience, regardless if I received a professional spray tan or previously purchased self-tanning products that require a mitt, there’s been a distinct smell (that I personally dislike).Tips: I followed the instructions by rinsing 1-3 hours later then showering within the timeframe provided, which is the safer bet for towels, clothes, and bedding. I also left the product on much longer, which I suggest either staying home or wearing darker clothes for obvious reasons.Overall: Again, I’m still learning and perfecting the method for this self-tanning madness. hahaFor me — the foam is incredible!! This product simplified my “at-home” experience.

To be honest, I have never used a self tanner that I am crazy about. It seems to me that they all smell good when you are putting them on, but develop that ammonia smell after the ingredient that tans you starts to kick in. Also the ones with a bronzer in them get dark coloring on yours clothes(even if you wait for it to dry), although it does wash out. This one has a nice coconut smell in the beginning, which I like. I also prefer mousse because I think it goes on quickly and dries quickly. I always seem to end up with a few streaks especially around my feet, and especially with a self tanner that is this dark. However, I like this one as much as any I have tried and am a repeat customer. Only request is that they make in a lighter option.

It's not a long-lasting tan. It looks pretty good initially. The longer you let it sit, the darker it gets, but the tan really only lasts for 2 or 3 days. It smells good at first, but after you rinse it off you can smell the deet chemicals. It smells a little weird. The mits help, but you will get product on your hands. Try to have someone help with your back.
