This product does the job in keeping heat away from the ground. Literally, grass stays green under this fire pit when we bring it out during our gatherings.

After 6 or 7 small Jarrah fires the heat shield shows brown heat marks on the underside indicating that some heat is coming through. We have only used it over open ground and on paving so no damage was evident, but at the moment from what I see, would not trust it over lawn.

It’s a wonderful portable fire pit. We bought it to see how we liked having a fire pit in our new backyard. It’s so easy and delivers on fun:) I recommend a welder’s mat so you don’t burn your grass. Realize that you will have to store it after each use: it’s not nearly sturdy enough to leave out.
