Technical Description: The product is designed for testing the concentration of salt water and brine. Provides a direct reading of the specific weight and concentration (Part per thousand) of salt in water. It gives you reliable refractive index and Salinity values of the dissolved solids of watery solutions. It is used for by our quality control in research and clinical laboratories. It can be used to check stem solutions and thinners and to hold. In the food industry it is particularly effective on the preparation of frozen vegetables, fruits, sea fruits and ocean by-products. The Salinity Refractometer is also available in ocean ographie and saltwater studies for determining the soil quality. The model with ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) is ideal for general use in the field.Compensation temperature range: 50℉-86℉Calibration: Zero calibration with water close to 68 ℉.Specification: Material:The metal part is made of brass chrome. Good Unit
Just remember these types of units do not stay in calibration or vary on temperature (Even though they may say temperature calibrated) so you will need to use calibration liquid every time that you check your water because fluctuations exist. I've tried several different refractometers now and they are mostly the same.

Spot On
Bought this one to check my old one, this one checked right on the dot at 1.026 with the new Aquatic Experts fluid. My old refractor check in at 1.027, I'm so glad I bought this one and it came spot on. My corals will be much happier now.

Great
Exactly what I needed once you calibrate the refractometer with fresh tap or bottle water clean it off and a few drops of you saltwater and it gives you a true reading of your salt I love it can’t go wrong it’s awesome

Works great
I had the dip in water type with the big plastic needle that moves to my salinity level. I felt it wasn’t accurate which was verified by my LFS. They had these available for $90 range. This one here was much cheaper, & exactly the same as they sold in the store. Works great, & comes in a storage box. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to read. Couldn’t be happier.

Very accurate.
I love that it is very accurate. Plus it is super easy to use and clean. However, the numbers are soooo small it is sometimes hard to read.

No where near sensitive enough to test Pool salt levels (my Fault)
I have no doubt this works Perfectly however made the mistake of thinking it would work to test Pool salt.

Calibrating it was easy but i feel like i have to calibrate it ...
very light and feels cheap but works well. Calibrating it was easy but i feel like i have to calibrate it for different tanks. does not easily match other refractometers but if youre using it for one tank its perfect as long as you keep your salinity at the same level. also worth the price. i also ordered a calibration solution because it does not come with one.

Recommend
Works as needed. You will need to buy calibration fluid for it separately. It's around $20 on Amazon. Even with buying the fluid on top of buying this, it's still cheaper than in our local stores for the refractometer alone. Solid purchase if you have saltwater tank.

Not impressed.
I have had this for a couple months now, and it simply doesn't work correctly, guess the old saying you get what you pay for it correct. I would spend the extra on a better quality known brand, you will save money in the long run.

best thing ever for reef enthusiasts
cannot stress this enough -- probably the best item to keep for your hobby if you are keeping a reef aquarium. Had a floating hydrometer and swing arm in the past, the first of which is inaccurate and the swing arm was completely off readings - throwing my tank in disarray for weeks and wasting salt. losses with oversaturated salt...since this product ive been accurate with specific gravity readings and have had nothing but good luck.

A little inaccurate
It works pretty decent I'd say. The accuracy is a little off by maybe 5? Other than that, it's pretty good and half the price what they were charging at the petstore.
