Beautiful and functional
This is the best mortar and pestle I have ever owned. Very sturdy, smooth, & heavy (which I love). One review mentioned it soaked up all their oil, but this has not been a problem for me. A little oil is absorbed but I have found this to be true with all sets I have used. This set is also beautiful.

The stone is porous
It's very pretty and sturdy which is why I gave it one star but the stone is super porous. It's sucked up any oil that's gotten near it. I would not call this food safe and I definitely wouldn't use it to grind meds. If you want it for decor or ceremonies it's perfect but otherwise it's a pretty, over priced paper weight.

This is a large and sturdy. Mortar and pestle set! I was surprised abd happy about the sizeabd the design. The pestle outs also shaped so that you can comfortably grind items.
