The handle slips off the guides easily.... And the blades are sharp...This wouldn't even be an issue except the small little bars of plastic on the handle that are used as guide then get sliced by the damn blades.THIS wouldn't even be a huge issue, BUT the since the blade are pretty nice and sharp it is very easy to cut those handle guides without even noticing you did it.You end up with thin slices of plastic mixed in with the pile of whatever you where slicing. There is no way to no if you got it all out or not.And then with the handle's guides damaged you'll start to have the handle slip off the sides and catch as more of it is shaved into your food.I'm a sever in a restaurant, but I've helped with food prep in the back of house before and this thing is a mocking abomination of what a good Mandoline Slicer should be.

While I am not a gourmet cook in any since of the word, I knew that I needed a better way to slice onions after adding a little personal steak tartare to my sliced onions on the my current utensil. I found this one and compared it to others and decided to purchase it. Upon receiving it, I put it to immediate use. It met my needs perfectly. I quickly found new uses for it. For a more advanced cook, this may not be adequate, but for my humble abilities, it fits quite well. Based upon my experience with it and my skill level, I rate this mandolin slicer with five stars.This is one thing that I do need to mention if you are like me in that you opened the box, read the instructions, and threw away the box. A learning experience occurred after the first use when I tried to put hand protector and the plastic box for the blades back into the food catcher/storage box. After trying several different ways, I discovered that there is only one way that the components fit into the storage box and the Mandoline Slicer close on top. See the attached image. Of course, this is the same as the picture on the box that I threw away!

Love love love just love it! Apart from the great variety of blades for all concievable cutting, its design incorporates essential features often overlooked by other such cutters available in the market. For starters, the vegtable/fruit holder has needles that go all the way into it and the adjustable holder presses it down as it starts to peel, ensuring that we dont accidently hurt our hand in any way possible. It has a container to store all the holders in a way that protects each blade. The lid of the main container fixes well but at the same time is easy to open. The blades are also very easy to change but fix well. Its made cooking easy within a day literally and has saved so much of my time!

Purchased this for the purpose of preparing scalloped potatoes, and also I thought it would add new textures to future meals with the other attachments. I sliced 3 potatoes, decided to get cocky and slice a few without the hand guard- big mistake. It effortlessly cut a flap out of my index finger. I continued the meal with the guard, with great consistency, but am now just beginning to grow more skin almost a week later. In case you're wondering, the uniformity helped make for a great dish. I stand by my high rating, it was my own fault, not the mandolin.

I really wanted a mandolin slicer for potatoes and this one seemed good for the price. I didn’t have issues with it, and it cut great, but I did end up getting rid of it because I sliced the side of my finger off and just didn’t want to go through the hassle of having to wear a thick glove every time I wanted to use it. So, functionally it is totally fine, but I highly recommend you purchase a protective glove if you are considering one of these, The blades are extremely sharp and the guard that holds the food isn’t going to be safe enough.

i have used this several times using the 2.5mm blade. It worked well on onions, celery, red pepper, cucumbers and even carrots (when slicing carrots - recommend using long, thick long ones - I couldn't use the pronged holder and stopped the slicing action leaving at least a 3-inch piece to make sure my fingers would be safe). Also, the price was very reasonable and it was promptly delivered.

The real problem I have with this item is the little thing that protects your fingers and hold the food. It has little guides on each side that should keep it going straight. Well, right off the bat I got it a little sideways and it cut through 1 of the guides. Continued to use it and it did happen again. Probably my bad, but it's not going to work for me. It's too easy to get off track.

I was impressed with how fast the Mandoline was delivered, and like it a lot. This is the first time I've used this device, and would really have have liked to have seen an instruction sheet of some kind that would have shown what the result of each blade looked like so that it would make it easier to choose the one I wanted. While there is a picture on the side of the box saying what each blade does, seeing an example of the product after being sliced would have been instructive and helpful.
