Great product
I got this hammer for my boyfriend for Christmas and it is safe to say he loves it. So much that he doesn’t want to use it TOO much at work so it doesn’t get ruined. Overall it is a great hammer it came in great packaging and the appearance was perfect other than a couple small chips in the paint. Will buy again!!!!

Heavy but works great
Heavier than I would like even for a 19 oz. But after about 50 nails I was very happy with the performance. Handle was a bit slippery with a glove on but it was also cold out so wiithout a glove on it was fine.

Works
Wow!!! I was amazed that this tool which is specifically designed to install nails does just that! Haha... But seriously, I live on a farm and drive a lot of nails and also pull a ton. I've had this exact weight and style hammer with the rubber grip for many years, it's the best hammer I've ever used function-wise, and the quality will last a lifetime. It's so good in fact, that my wife uses it all the time which presents a problem when I go to use it and it's not in its spot. This leads to this hammer with the compressed leather grip. I bought this for my wife in the exact weight and design of mine but with this handle material so we could tell them apart. The cost is more expensive than a basic claw hammer and cheaper than some crazy fancy hammer that no one needs. It is worth every penny. Every design feature is immensely useful and performs better than every other hammer I have and have used (I own almost a dozen other claw hammers that just sit in a drawer). Estwing is second to none on quality and it WILL last a lifetime. I will never have a need to buy another hammer unless my wife or I lose ours... If you ever use a hammer, buy this one. You will have zero regrets and give away your others to anyone who needs a hammer.

The perfect hammer...but...
Perfect balance for hammering nails...that's the main job of a hammer...but...I found out the hard way not to get any solvents on the black paint on this hammer, the paint is easily removed. Granted, a hammer is going to get dinged around in use by it's very nature, but when I tried to remove the gummy adhesive residue from the warning stickers on the painted portion of the hammer's handle, the isopropyl alcohol began to remove the paint. It worked fine on the bare metal on the top of the hammer, but what ever you do, don't get any solvents on the black paint. Fortunately, I realized my cloth was turning black in time to stop rubbing, but the photographs make the hammer look much better than it does in person. I gave it a coat of gun oil since this paint they use probably won't do much to prevent rusting. Overall a great hammer with one caution about caring for it's appearance.
