A great affordable tv
TV picture quality upon opening it would be a 5/10 but upon changing settings I'd give this TV an 8/10 for the price I paid. It gets the job done at a wonderful price. (Purchased on Black Friday)

Great Picture, Bad Feet
This is a review from a normal Joe Schmo TV watcher and not a video expert. That being said, I think this TV looks great! This is a very light TV for its size and is easily set up by one person. Ports on the back are very conveniently located with cable and HDMI's positioned facing right instead of down making it far easier to install and swap your cables on the fly without being a contortionist. I've taken off one star because the feet for this tv are VERY light plastic and I feel if a child managed to grab the tv at the right angle, it could easily snap these feet in half. They were also a bit of a pain to align correctly and if you aren't careful, you will be screwing the wrong foot to the wrong side facing the wrong way.The picture is fantastic. I think it does a great job converting standard HD to fill the 4K screen and 4K images look phenomenal and offer enough fine-tuning of the picture to dial in your room conditions. This is our first 4K TV and if this is a "budget" set, I can only imagine what a premium model looks like. We are running 4K streaming from a Roku with a Bose Soundbar so I can't contest the audio quality of the speakers. Like others have parroted in their reviews, I don't think these days you should expect any sets built-in speakers to blow you away. There just isn't enough room in flat panel TV to get proper vibration out of a speaker. If you are looking for an entry into 4K viewing without breaking the bank, I think this set is a fine choice to get your feet wet and is plenty for our family. Although reflective of its price, be prepared for a bit of "cheap" feeling construction. Catch it on sale and you'll love it even more!

DO NOT BUY!
First TV delivered to me was missing parts. Second TV has the missing parts but the screen was dented. Now after 3 months, the sound has gone out and the picture quality is diminishing. DO NOT BUY THIS TV!

This is a huge nice TV for a cheap price
This is a huge nice TV for a cheap price, so there are some drawbacks for it. The first is that it is not a smart tv, no Netflix, no anything, just inputs like they used to have. This is fine for me since we always use an Apple TV with it.The other drawbacks is that the menu and some of the features are a bit hard to use and figure out. I've managed to get everything setup where it looks good and most everything works, with the exception of HDMI CEC for volume control (it turns the TV on/off, but volume has alluded me so far, might just be a setting or combination of settings). It also does not have HDR, which is a fairly big downside now. It's strange because my Apple TV 4K will output to HDR to it, but then it just appears washed out. Reading the specs/manual I don't see anything about it, so I assume it just does not have it.It's thin and fairly light, thin bezel, we have it in our exercise area, and it's super bright. We don't use the sound on the TV at all, so no comment on that (although other reviews have said it's not great).

Great value 55" UHD TV!
I am posting 5 stars for this TV not because it's an excellent TV that beats TVs that run thousands of dollars more, but because it is a great value for the price you pay. I am reviewing the 55" edition which has an MSRP of $499. If you can get it for under $350, then I think it's a great bargain. I have to admit that I'm a bit spoiled with the LG Electronics OLED55B6P Flat 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart OLED TV (2016 Model) that I bought last year, and I still recommend OLED if you can afford it. But this Avera 55" is still a great value.Negatives: It's not a Smart TV -- no WiFi or built-in apps. Sound quality from the TV speakers is not great. The LED field is noticeably blotchy (dark/light areas) when viewing light-colored and low-contrast images. Color seems a bit 'loud', so I turned the Color setting down to about 35 and Brightness down to about 40, which made it better. The shipping container needs better padding/support around the screen.Positives: Great UHD quality even from over the air TV signal - I watched Sunday Night Football on it and was impressed. Picture quality is actually pretty good when you use the "User" settings and adjust it to your room conditions. The settings are outlined in another review here, and also my suggestions above about Color and Brightness. Plenty of inputs make connecting your devices easy -- includes USB as well. Optical Audio Out port for connecting your audio system. Remote has dedicated buttons for many screen controls so you don't have to go through the on screen menu system. Remote also has Rewind/Play/Forward buttons, if you can use them. There are mounting screws on the back which should fit any VESA TV mount. I recommend the AmazonBasics Heavy-Duty, Full Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount for 22-inch to 55-inch LED, LCD, Flat Screen TVs, Which I bought the larger version for the LG TV and it works great. Notice in one of the pictures that the box was damaged in shipment, but it did not push in far enough to damage the glass screen.

Non-surveillance television provides a good picture
We wanted to get a TV free of "Smart" market surveillance before they were completely unavailable. This 2014 edition 55" AVera provides a good picture, and plenty of ports to plug in your surround sound speakers, Playstation/XBox/Nintendo, and computer. It is easy to set up. In the COVID19 era, when commodities are fast disappearing from the mid-Can market or languishing somewhere in the Canadian postal service, this TV was delivered one day earlier than promised. As other reviewers commented, its drawbacks are minor relative to its benefits: The feet and frame are cheap-looking shiny black plastic. But this is the only surveillance-free television of its size available in Canada to my knowledge. ...Perhaps another drawback is that this television encouraged my husband and son to buy new video games, and although I can hear my family in the TV room and know they are alive, I haven't seen them in a couple of days.

Good TV so far.
I just received this TV today. It came in two days early. After testing it, I mounted it and hooked it up. Everything is working perfectly so far.It has four HDMI inputs, including the one that will duplicate the screen on some android phones and tablets. It also has Optical Audio out, Composite Video input (RCA) with L and R audio, Component input (Y Pb Pr), 3.5mm Earphone jack, Cable Antenna input, and a USB Input Port. There is no VGA or PC audio input.I am not using the TV audio, but people here seem to be saying it's pretty classic crappy TV audio quality. I am running my TV through a Sony surround receiver that provides excellent audio.I have not had a chance to calibrate it yet as I left my calibration disk at work, but I will calibrate it for blu-ray playback as I did with my previous TV. So far, the cable HD channels look excellent. I have no complaints about the picture, and there is no backlight bleed around the edges at all.I picked this TV up (ordered it) on Black Friday for $384, and I consider it an excellent value. If this TV keeps working and turns out to be reliable, I am going to be more than happy with my purchase.THIS TV IS A DUMB TV!!!There are no streaming sites, no network or wifi connections, no cameras, no "personal assistants", no ads, no spying, no apps that will fail in a year or two because they are no longer supported. I almost bought a Roku TV, and I'm really glad I didn't. If I decide I want to stream, I will add a media PC to my system. Also note that the USB port is only good for viewing pictures and music (according to the manual). You cannot plug a Chromecast or Roku streaming device into it.This TV is replacing a 10+ year old Sony 46", which was also a dumb TV. So far, I don't see anything that was better on the Sony, however the Sony was super reliable even though it has florescent backlights. It's still working, and I am putting it in the basement bar. I only hope this new TV turns out to be as reliable as the Sony.EDITThere is no way to calibrate this TV without some more expensive equipment. The contrast control doesn't appear to work at all. It's greyed out, and even if I place the TV in User mode, I still cannot adjust the contrast.I watched a few blu-ray movies on it, including Alita Battle Angel, and they all looked great to me. At the price I got it for, I'm not going to complain. If I had of paid $600+ for this TV, I would insist they fix this or I would have returned it to Amazon. However, it was less than $400 when I purchased it, so I'll keep it. It still looks better than my old Sony.-1 star.

Great quality, subpar shipping experience
So I bought this TV as a gift for myself this year because my old TV was from 2013 and it just wasnt cutting it. Plus I just bought a new video card that could handle 4K, so even better. I'll start with the pros.Pros: great picture quality, very bright, suprisingly not heavy at all, vesa mountable, very thin and lots of ports on the backCons: sound quality is absolute TRASH. You're better off with a tin can attached to a string and your ear on the other end. Just awful. Also the power cable is kind of short. As for my shipping experience; it was terrible. I waited WEEKS to get my TV in and when I did HOO BOY was that an experience and a half. First off, it came by Purolator which normally is not an issue but this dude dropped my package off that said "55 INCH 4K TELEVISION" in bold letters on the box and guess what he does? He leaves it on my door step and walks away. Doesn't ring the doorbell, doesn't knock or nothing. I was waiting around for hours waiting for my package only for my neighbour to call me and tell me it's on my doorstep a full FOUR HOURS after Purolator's website said they dropped it off. That means I thankfully wasn't robbed but that my package had been sitting in front of my door for 4 hours subjected to the elements. Needless to say I was not impressed.By this time I had to go to work so I pulled it inside and went to work. When I came home I wanted to use it right away so I inspected the box and sure enough there's a HUGE break in the cardboard going half the width of the TV where I can stick my hand into it up to my elbows and touch the screen easily. The handles on the side were torn up as well. I opened the box and inspected the TV and honestly it looked fine. I breathed a sigh of relief thinking my TV was only subjected to cosmetic box damage. Then I plugged it in. THE WHOLE TV WAS COMPLETELY TOASTED. It looked like what happens when a virus takes over a host or something. Something out of that movie "The Thing".I called Purolator support and they were no help after 3 hours so I just hung up. I called up Amazon the same night and explained the situation and they sent me a new one and I sent the old one back so all was well. I received the new TV no issue but the new TV box was messed up too however it works so I couldn't care any less. All in all I give my whole experience a 3/5 after dealing with this whole mess and waiting almost a month and a half for a working TV.

No working at all. !!!!!!!!!
TV is not working at all. I don't know if the ding in the box has anything to do with it. I've never been so disappointed. . . I taken the plug out and repluged it, still nothing. I keep looking at it hoping it will just work as it should. Nothing
