Taxidermists Woodshop Walnut Classic Deer European Skull Mount Face Plate Plaque

I didn't like any of the low quality ridiculously patterned weapon mounts sold on Amazon.The ones I did like couldn't be shipped within the 2 day timeline I needed for a house warming party so I bought 2 of these instead.I modified these plaques with some pegs from a clearance Fred Meyer wall mounted coat hanger to create the mounting brackets for swordsPROS:The wood is beautifully crafted, and reminds me of some of the high quality wood working I used to do in my high school construction class.Its not 100% symmetrical and I was a little worried it would be obvious once the swords were placed on the mounts but it really looks quite beautiful and the luster of the walnut makes most imperfections unnoticeable.CONS:Its a little easy to scratch so treat them well in your wood shop (garage) and don't place anything on them in a way that could tarnish it.The mounting bracket and hardware that comes with it is designed to drill straight through the center of the plaque and while that gives it good stability it's ugly.The bracket itself has a raised lip such that a screw could be slipped into it so it just hangs from the wall, but it doesn't come with a screw whose head fits in the lip.I don't know anything about Taxidermy nor mounting deer skulls so I'll give this a 5 star review since I'm not using it for its strictly intended purpose.But as a weapon mount its beautiful and if the seller crafted some pegs to go with it I'd call it the best weapon mount on Amazon.

This is exactly what I needed for my European mount!! They sent me a new one right away because somehow the first one got scratched up. Very nice looking and I couldn’t be happier!

Very impressed with this plaque, it’s a high quality and beautiful piece. Didn’t love the recommended attachment so I modified it slightly. I’d definitely buy another for my next mount!

It turned out to be a little small for what I wanted, but that's on me.Otherwise it looked to be a quality piece of wood with a nice finish.

Did my first Euro mount using this plaque. It came out great, looks amazing! The only issue I had (that i saw in many other reviews) is how easy it was to scratch. I should have applied a few layers of lacquer first. Would definitely buy again though

I am not sure if it was the holidays or high deer season but the recess was not in plaque. Maybe it wasn't meant to be recessed, but I wanted it to match the other mounts we previously paid to have done. It was easy enough to recess for flush fit with a very large drill bit and Dremel tool. I read the previous reviews about it scratching easy so I took precaution with a brown paper bag then ripped the paper bag out when done mounting. They look great.

How do use this mount at least three times now for European Whitetail buck mounts and it works great has all the mounting hardware and good value for price

My skull mount fit perfectly on this plaque. Easy to assemble, directions not so good. Recommend looking on you tube.
