First I would like to say that I absolutely love this quill. I may even consider buying it again in a different color. The nib that comes in it writes great and I didn't have to dip it again until I had filled four lines of college ruled paper. I haven't yet tried the ink that comes with it because I already had open ink at home, so I can't say much about that. The reason I took two stars off is because of the extra nibs. They are a completely different shape and length than the nib that comes in the quill, and the only way I found to get them in is to pit them at a 90 degree turn from where it should be which makes writing with the nib strange as it off balances the quill. On top of that I could barely manage to sign my name twice with any of the other nibs. It was like it was trying to release the ink to fast because the first sign the ink would come out so thick it bleed through the paper and on the second it would already start getting spotty.

Beautiful pen and I feel so fancy writing with it! The ink is also great and lasts a decent amount of time between re-wetting.

I purchased this product as Christmas present and I can happily say I'm not disappointed.Firstly to set the other reviews right, the product does come with ink (a lot of reviews state it doesn't?!). Unfortunately though the bottle had slightly leaked but luckily comes in a plastic baggy of its own.The feather looks and appears real although I have no way of confirming this, and there are 5 additional nibs along with the one already attached. The quill itself is heavy which would make for a good writing pen. The stand for the quill has the most incredible design in it too.Presented in a very unique box. It's probably one of the nicest things I've ever purchased from Amazon! Get one for yourself now!!

I bought this gift set for my daughter as she likes art and design quite a lot and so having a traditional handwriting one that works the traditional way caused me to buy this for her.Firstly, in my perspective it is worth the price, it comes with a decent quality feather, giving it the style you would find in the ones found back in the days. There were some misunderstanding and miscommunication in the display page of the product but I must say it does come with ink even though the seller says it does no. When i ordered this set i was very close to also purchase separate ink but the pictures and description said to different things so i was not really sure. However, this pen set comes with ink in a fancy little bottle.Alongside this, it also has a pen holder to be placed on an office desk or display as it is very attractive and will go well with a family display shelf.There is 5 pen nibs to get you started but you can always buy more if needed from Amazon or get cheaper ones on other sites. I would say this makes a very decent gift.

1 warning then praise,1st things 1st, the nib on the quill (either the one attached or one of the others) seem to be coated in something that makes the ink run free and takes time to wear off, this means that for a little while till it wears off you will get ink on your fingers.After the nib (or nibs) are used enough to remove this coating it writes beautifully and holds ink well each time you dip it, I have had 4 full sentences give or take 1 on a dip before needing to do so again. It has a comfortable feel of a fountain pen with none of the weight on the top end, I would recommend getting a pot for the ink as you cannot tell how far in the bottle you are dipping and may end up with ink on the stem not just the nib but if you are careful it is not necessary, I myself got a Japanese brush painting ink pot with lid and this works very well in concert with the quill, if you are buying as a gift maybe look into getting an ink pot as well.

This is really a very high quality product. Looks amazing on my desk and it writes super nice and smooth. The only down side is that I get a blue finger from the ink. But I think this is only until I learn how to write with it properly. This is my first fountain pen with the ink separately. But I love it very much. Thank u.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful this was. The box it comes in looks like a pirates map and it feels like cloth, even though its notThe box is L30.5cm x W12cm x D4.5cm. Inside you have the quill which has a beautiful ornate handle and a cover on the nib to protect it, it looks metallic but I'm unsure whether it is. Theres a quill stand, black ink and 5 nibs plus the one already on the quill.It looks very expensive, so for £12.99, it makes a lovely present.I've also bought a book on calligraphy and will be giving it to my adult daughter for Christmas but it would make a lovely gift for adults and children.
