Hanuman is standing with his right hand held up in the abhaya mudra or "fear not" hand position. His other hand holds his large club. He is wearing large malas that swing down both sides of his broad chest. Hanuman is known for his steadfast loyalty and his bravery which he exhibited numerous times in the famous Ramayana tale in which Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman rescued Sita from the demon king of Lanka.
