Excellent first "gear bike" for 9 year old with autism.
Excellent first "gear bike" for my son. He's on the [autism] spectrum but pretty high functioning. He had outgrown his 18 inch kid bike, and he's actually really good at balance activities (better than most age peers) so my only concern was the gear shift mechanism/logic and of course braking without a coaster brake. This bike, as advertised, nailed the brake issue by keeping it simple and straightforward. One hand lever, there is a front brake but it only engages proportionately to the rear and only when travelling. I demonstrated and "practiced" with my son for a few minutes and he completely understood about braking. Center pull might have been nicer but this mechanism is a great solution for kids graduating up. Learning to shift was about normal (compared to his older sister!) and he was doing pretty good at both within a day. Would recommend for all kids graduating up from a "kids" 18 inch bike as their first "gear bike"; and definitely for my kid on the spectrum. He absolutely loves it and is really proud that it's a "gear bike". So am I.

Awesome bike for an eight years old boy !!!
My son loved it instantly !! He loves to lift this bike and show off that he is strong 😀Assembly was way too easy compared to any other bikes we bought. Breaking is the best thing I like in this bike and I always worried about the breaks in all other bikes we bought. Great quality bike and right fit for my boy.

Sturdy but light, very easy to manuver
This was for a 10 year old boy as his first bike with gears. The fact that it has fewer gears to adjust, that the brakes work in unison, and that it is so much lighter than other bikes , makes this the perfect choice for the daredevil grandson. It stops fairly quickly, but without the sensation you are about to be tossed over the front handlebars. It was easy to put together, although not many directions. We recommend inflating the tires before adjusting the brakes. So far this has been a stable, sturdy, and well made bike. Oh, and the kids in the neighborhood were impressed with the color and design of the graphics, (we have the red).
