These heavy-duty hoes are perfect for clearing fire lines. The sharp head cuts trees up to 1" in diameter as well as large weeds. These versatile tools can also be used for breaking up sod, cultivating crops, and other garden work. The ferrule is welded directly to the head, and a rivet and adhesive in addition to a pressure fit secure the handle to the head.

Excellent Hoe. Women gardeners need this hoe.
Excellent, Excellent Hoe. Manufacturer also known as a "Rogue".This hoe is different from the "usual hoe" that I was exposed to. This hoe is heavier but is finely crafted with a sharp bade. The blade is thick, hefty and sharp. It is not too heavy. The weight of the blade actually works for you. The hefty blade enables you to do tough chores very easily. I can sculpt the ground when it is drier and form my raised bed. I can dig. I can scrape clear the soil surface with one stroke. I can whack through small tree roots one to two inches in diameter. I am a "super gardener". I can do all this and with less effort than any other tool I have used. Women gardeners need this tool. It does make the work easier and unbelievably faster.I purchased this tool in January 2015 and the prices were similar to the price on the manufacture's website. The prices on Amazon are presently inflated. I paid mid $30's for the tool and that included the free shipping . There are variations of this tool with other versions of the handle. Check out the manufacturer's website. You may prefer a heftier shorter handle or a long hickory handle. They also have fiberglass bright yellow handles too. Although I do not expect to need a handle replacement, they are available for purchase.I always check out other websites as I may find a better tool or a much better price.. This tool is worth the manufactures price and is the best overall gardening tool for clearing weeds and breaking up the soil. It makes tough work much easier. However, keep the edge sharp for whacking through roots.Since we are talking gardening, I have a favorite shovel too that saves me alot of effort too. I will mention a trenching shovel or transplant shovel. They have a 38-40-inch-long handle with a D-shaped hand grip. The blade is a heavy slightly cupped,14 to16 inch long STEEL blade that is about 5 or 6-inches wide. The blade is positioned near the same axis as the handle. It makes it easier to push the blade into the ground or under a sheet of sod. The blade also has a top foot edge that allows you to use your legs strength and bodyweight to shove it into the ground. Transplanting and digging up plants, even with thick roots is easier. You can also use this thin bladed shovel for digging deeper narrow holes for fence posts. Get a good one of those too. Keep the edge sharp.Hmm, i'll mention Wilcox ( manufactured in USA ) hand trowel with stainless steel blades, a super well made tools. They LAST and will not bend. It again is not for the wimpy. Wilcox tools have thick blades that cut through soil. These are the best tools i found in over 50 years of gardening.Have fun gardening and a fine summer. If you find the helpful, please press the button and give it a thumbs up. thank you.It is Dec 2024 and happened on this older review. I am delighted to see that other women gardeners have discovered, used and reviewed this hoe. I am 72 years old now and this is still the best gardening tool I have EVER used. It is not heavy and makes my gardening a pleasure. I have some other hoes that I use too, but none work for the heavy-duty, harder chores. For clearing small surface weds look at a hula hoe. The name is fun but a good one works very well too.

Best. Hoe. Ever.
This is quite simply the finest hoe I have ever used. Let's start with the fact that it is aesthetically pleasing. Not a necessity, but certainly a bonus. The construction is such that someone who looks at most tools and says "They don't make 'em like they used to," would smile and say "Sometimes they do!" It's good and stout and I can't imagine how you'd go about breaking it through normal use.The edge is good and sharp, and I really like the way the edge is ground up the sides of the blade as well, makes it easy to rotate the hoe in your hands a bit and strike a more pointed digging blow where it is needed. This hoe is heavier than most hoes I have used, and I was concerned that it might wear me out too quickly during usage, but it slices through weeds and brush so easily, that one can accomplish in one swing what might take 2 or 3 swings with a lesser tool. One of my favorite things about it is the nice long handle. I have had such difficulty finding tools that don't require a slight stoop in order to use, and this one allows me to use it from a completely upright position, making it much easier on my back during a long work session. It's perfect for large scale weeding, even taking out blackberries easily. Does great in the garden as well as the field, making easy work of mounding and furrows. I recommend this hoe most highly. I wish I had found it sooner. Well worth the price.

Fantastic Hoe !
I had to think long and hard about spending the money for this hoe. But I'm sick of crappy tools that bend, break and don't do the job. So I decided to go for this one.Holy moly, what a hoe! It's great. It's super strong, sturdy, and the blade is very sharp - so beware! I love that the blade is wider and bigger than the normal hoe you get at the hardware store. The blade is much thicker, sharper, and wider. I LOVE it. In fact, when my neighbor wanted to borrow it, I grabbed it and said, "NOPE!". I won't lend this awesome tool to anyone. I was able to clean up my flower garden with hardly any effort since the blade is so sharp and well-designed. This was sooooo worth the cost. Now I finally see why buying quality tools is worth it. I guard this hoe like I would my wallet. It came well packaged with the blade covered by thick cardboard. It's worth noting, be very careful with the blade. It's far sharper than cheapo hoes you normally buy. This thing is a work of art and I'm sure it will last as long as I do. I'm glad I spent the money for it. I'm planning to do a garden next spring and I'll use this. I have no doubt this will take out grass with very little effort. Work smarter, not harder! This hoe does that for you.

Awesome tool. Stubby handle
I think the tool is great. Made quick work of my overly weedy garden. Was like a cross of a sledge hammer and a razor blade. But the tool from end to end is 40 inches. Which is pretty short for a hoe which made it a little difficult to use. I’m five foot so it only required a little hunching to use, but I would have liked a little more length to make it easier on my back. But it was still less tiring then using the sad excuses they call hoes from other places. So because it has more the length of an ax then a hoe, I give it 4 stars. But it definitely will make quick work of anything you need it too.
