Another Jimi book
The cover and pictures and quality are great, however most of the pictures are the same ol pictures we’ve seen for decades. There are lots of unique and rare Jimi pics these days. I would of loved to see these unique photos in here. It’s a nice gift for a Hendrix fan, and looks beautiful.

Almost perfect
Arrived dinged which didn’t surprise me, since the box was messed up. A little disappointing as this is a gift. But has weird markings on front that was under the plastic wrap as well.. kind of sticky almost. Doesn’t look brand new for some reason. Besides that, the book is huge to what I was expecting and I can’t wait to gift it.

"WE MADE IT MAN, BECAUSE WE DID OUR OWN THING." JIMI HENDRIX.
"When he picked up that guitar he was just a monster." Paul McCartney. This is yet another book on the life and music of Jimi Hendrix. It includes a detailed biography of Hendrix with photos (if you're a Hendrix fan) you already know from previous books. This comes on the heels of the fairly recent "Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Chile" by the Kubernik brothers which uses extensive quotes from many people to tell the story instead of a straight biographical style. But this is a physically fairly heavy well made, quality book (it should be for the money) with photos (some you've no doubt already seen) plus quite a few rarely seen photos and a lot of very cool repros of posters and other graphics from various gigs and periods throughout the book. The reproductions are crisp and clean--even some photos taken under less than perfect conditions. The layout of the book is chronological, beginning in 1942, '42-'60, '61-'64. '64-'66, '66, '67, '68, '69, '70, and ends with the Hendrix legacy. There's also a discography of officially released Hendrix albums in small-ish full color repros over three pages. There's also occasional quotes at the chapter headings from Hendrix, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Paul McCartney, and a few others. If you're a deep Hendrix fan (like I am) you owe it to yourself to check this book out. If you don't own a book that delves into Hendrix's life and music and has many great visuals, this may be something to purchase if you can swing the big wood they're asking.

It’s not worth it
Are you a real fan of Jimi Hendrix? Then don’t buy this. I thought it would be full of top colour photos but it’s not. It’s like someone’s badly organised scrap book with ticket stubs and posters. Not to my taste at all and was glaringly obvious the Hendrix estate wringing the last few dollars out of his memory
