Excellent!
A truly excellent reference for anyone who wants to know the differences between the multitude of versions of this great aircraft.Alan Griffith has obviously gone to great lengths in his research, and this is brought to the reader in a clear, concise, but highly detailed fashion, with the myths dissolved, and the facts presented in chronological order, with much detailed information never before revealed. Each and every change and modification is described and illustrated, with good photographs and scale drawings for every version produced, and after just the first initial scan of this book, I was already able to identify sub-models by such things as, for example, the navigator's window, or paint pattern. For anyone with an interest in the B-24 Liberator, and especially artists and scale modellers, this is an essential reference, and is highly recommended.

Fabulous piece of research and presentation; highly recommended. I look forward to Volume 2 which I hope will include the B24 in British and Commonwealth service

one for the modellers
This is really a "coffee table" book for those with a passion for the B24.I would have preferred less discussion on the number of bolts surrounding windows and more discussion on the "throw away remark" that the 8th USAAF got rid of the B24's in 1944. Why?In spite of being the most produced US heavy bomber of the 2ww, it has always been overshadowed by the inferior B17, and I would like to have seen more of its combat history, even most of the illustrations are drawn from the 7th USAAF in the Pacific theatre. This is a very good modellers guide though, and the illustrations are excellent, while the attention to detail is breathtaking. However it is not an operational record of the plane.
