Solid, metal construction with wire reel and overall very tough. I bought two of these on Amazon many months ago and am still using one daily at work. I have an ID card holder and usb stick on it hooked on my trousers belt loop and use it to access office doors approximately 40 - 60 times a day. No signs of wear and tear on this tough item

Got mine since July 2024. It’s an end of October 2024 and the wire already start to break with sharp wires sticking out. It’s 2nd one I got and same issue occurred. Was hoping for little more than few months. Using it 4 days per week with very light ID attached.

I had previously bought cheaper versions of this and to my regret they broke within weeks, hense this purchase. These are made of metal and the retractable mechanism is far superior to the other cheap ones available. Although a bit more expensive than others on Amazon I have currently had no issues in the months of use. I use it to hold my large phone case on my belt and to stop it falling to the ground or being dropped when out and about. I recommend paying a bit more and getting a quality, long lasting product.

Although this item feels quite heavy, I’m not in a role where I have to wear my ID badge all day at work. If you do, and want a pull cord for your badge, I’d look for the equivalent product but with a clip on the back so that it can clip to a shirt pocket or work jacket. Having said all that, the cord is sturdy but unwinds easily, so I don’t feel like I am weight lifting to scan my badge as I walk around my work site.

I bought one of these retractable key rings 6 months ago because it was described as heavy duty. The cable is metal and it seemed very sturdy and I have used it every day at work... then the cable snapped. I searched on Amazon to see if there was anything better but they all seem the same so I just bought the same one as a replacement. So whilst this is a repeat purchase I am not an especially happy customer because these items are not cheap. If I find a more robust model I will add to this review but for now I will have to make do with this one and hope it lasts a bit longer.

This is a high quality, well made product. The recoil is strong, and the wire very strong. I use this many times in a day, others have worn out and broken in the past, I don’t think this one will. Would recommend for sure.

Really well made product. I bought one as tired of my old ones breaking and thought that this would last. I use it clip on to scrubs so it is on the heavy side as scrubs aren't exactly sturdy. I would imagine this would work really nicely on outdoor gear. The wire is a coated steel wire but doesn't feel sharp. If you're using it constantly I would imagine that this would last longer than what you're attaching to it!
